Joe Weatherley

Joe Weatherley, a Winchester-born batsman captained Hampshire age-group sides through his teenage years and also led England Under-19s in Australia in 2015-16. He made his first-team debuts as a 19-year-old the following summer, but runs initially proved hard to come by, even when on loan at Kent in Division Two in 2017.

But he struck a maiden Championship hundred in 2018 as Hampshire batted out the final day against Lancashire (arguably the start of Hampshire's climb away from the bottom of Division One) and also added a first List A century in a Royal London Cup tie against Kent. He had made a solid start to the following season before fracturing his ankle in July, ruling him out for the rest of the campaign.
