Johnathan Campbell

Son of former Zimbabwe captain Alistair Campbell, Johnathan Campbell is a middle order batter and a useful legspinner. He made his international debut against Bangladesh in May 2024, scoring 45 off 24 balls, the highest score by a Zimbabwe batter on men's T20I debut.

Campbell made his T20 debut as a 20-year-old in Afghanistan's Shpageeza Cricket League in 2017 for Boost Defenders. It took him more than two years to break into the Zimbabwe first-class circuit, turning out for Rangers against Mashonaland Eagles in the 2019-20 Logan Cup where he scored 308 runs in six matches at 28.00. He subsequently made his List A debut for Rangers in the Pro50 Championship in February 2020 finishing as the third highest run-scorer in the competition.

The next season, Campbell turned out for Mid West Rhino and stayed there for two seasons before moving to Southern Rocks for the 2023-24 Logan Cup. He had a bumper season for Rocks, scoring 675 runs in six matches at an average of 61.36 which included four centuries. That led to his call-up to the senior Zimbabwe squad for the Bangladesh T20Is where he finished as the second-highest run-scorer for his side.

Campbell was also part of the Zimbabwe Emerging team which won the gold medal at the 13th African Games in March 2024. In July 2024, Campbell received his maiden call-up to the Zimbabwe Test squad for a one-off Test against Ireland.
