Khalid Aziz enjoyed a long if moderate first-class career as a batsman, but made more of an impression as an umpire, standing in three Tests and seven ODIs between 1978-79 and 1993-94. As a batsman, he made only one hundred in his 18-year career, but was nevertheless good enough to be 12th man in one Pakistan Test against England in 1956-57. The following summer he toured England with the Pakistan Eagles and finished second in the averages with 950 runs. After retiring in 1974, eh quickly became established as one of Pakistan's leading umpires, standing in his first Test in 1978-79 at the relatively young age of 41. He stood again in 1980, but his third and final appearance was not until 1991-92. All three matches he officiated in were at Faisalabad. His seven ODIs spanned 16 years and included one match at the 1987 World Cup.
