Muneeba Ali grew up playing multiple sports but fell in love with cricket while playing in the streets of Karachi. She made her T20 debut for Balochistan at the age of 14 and T20I debut for Pakistan at 18. She incrementally improved the volume and pace at which she scored runs in international cricket to earn a spot as an opener.

While Muneeba debuted in the 2016 T20 World Cup, she had to wait till 2021 to solidify her place. Her ODI career, which started in 2018, followed a similar trajectory.

She was shortlisted among the candidates for the women's cricketer of the year at the PCB awards in December 2020. At the 2023 women's T20 World Cup in South Africa, she became the first-ever Pakistan player to notch a T20I hundred. She was promoted to a Category B contract by the PCB in 2023 and became the primary wicketkeeper-batter in the side.
