IPL: Previous winners
The past IPL finals
Rajasthan's fairy tale: Few outside India would have heard of Yusuf Pathan before the first IPL in 2008, but the allrounder imposed himself on the biggest stage by producing a match-winning 56 in the final against Chennai Super Kings. Rajasthan Royals were the most dominant team of the tournament, winning 13 out of 16 matches, and it was only fitting that they held their nerve when it mattered most, to chase down 164 without a ball to spare in the final•AFP
Third time lucky: After falling in the finals and semi-finals in the previous two tournaments, it was third time lucky for Super Kings, who rode on an all-round display from the most consistent IPL player, Suresh Raina, to beat Mumbai Indians by 22 runs in the 2010 final. Super Kings looked to be heading for an early exit in the group stages, but MS Dhoni's murderous assault against Kings XI Punjab in Dharamsala completed a stunning win, and booked the team's place in the semi-finals. There was no looking back from there•BCCI
The master bows out in style: Sachin Tendulkar was given the best IPL send-off, as Mumbai ended their title drought with a 23-run win against Super Kings in the 2013 showpiece event. Kieron Pollard hit 60, but Mumbai's 148 did not seem enough against Super Kings' deep batting arsenal. However, Super Kings collapsed in the chase and were restricted to 125 by some incisive spells from Lasith Malinga, Mitchell Johnson and Harbhajan Singh•Pragyan Ojha - Twitter
From despair to utter jubilation :After enduring a nightmare first season where they finished rock bottom, Deccan Chargers completed the ultimate turn-around by winning the 2009 edition with a six-run victory against Royal Challengers Bangalore. Their captain and player of the tournament Adam Gilchrist fell for a duck, but Herschelle Gibbs led a recovery with 53 and Pragyan Ojha snared three wickets to stifle Royal Challengers' chase, as Chargers celebrated long into the night in Johannesburg•Associated Press
The IPL is yellow : Four tournaments, three finals, two wins. Super Kings affirmed their status as the most consistent IPL team with a dominating display in 2011, where they won all their home matches, including the final against Royal Challengers Bangalore by 58 runs. M Vijay was at the center of the success, thumping six sixes during a 52-ball 95 to lift Super Kings to 205- the highest score in an IPL final•Associated Press
Bisla sends Kolkata into raptures: Super Kings were denied a hat-trick of IPL crowns in 2012, as they were thwarted by Kolkata Knight Riders in the final. Raina's 73 off 38 had set Knight Riders a daunting 191 for victory, but a 136-run stand between the little-known Manvinder Bisla and Jacques Kallis helped the team complete the chase in 19.4 overs. Knight Riders did not forget to acknowledge the contribution made by the player of the series, Sunil Narine, who finished with 24 wickets from 15 innings•AFP
