Neil Maxwell, who is the agent of Adam Gilchrist, Brett Lee and Michael Hussey, has been appointed CEO of the Mohali IPL franchise.
"I am extremely excited to be part of team Mohali, as this is the first time in the history of cricket that a league of such a magnitude has been formed across the world", Maxwell said. "This gives me a good opportunity to be associated with a sport that I love so much and we promise a lot of exciting and unforgettable cricketing action from team Mohali."
Maxwell, 40, represented New South Wales and Victoria in Australian domestic cricket and played for Australia A before fulfilling various cricket-related roles in the fields of marketing, communication and administration. He has previously worked with Cricket New South Wales, the Melbourne Cricket Club, the Marylebone Cricket Club and New Zealand Cricket. He founded a couple of sports marketing companies with former Australian cricketer Shane Lee, with whom he has also launched a marketing agency called Insite Organisation.
Meanwhile, the Mohali franchise, which is owned by a consortium consisting of the Bollywood star Preity Zinta, and industrialists Ness Wadia, Karan Paul and Mohit Burman, have signed on six additional players from the Indian domestic circuit. They include Uday Kaul, Sunny Sohal, and Pankaj Dharmani from the Punjab Ranji squad, and Mumbai's Sahil Kukreja, Wilkin Mota and Yash Gandhi, who is yet to play a first-class match.
