Darwish Rasooli

Originally a top-order batter, Darwish Rasooli has found his place in the Afghanistan team in the middle-order on the back of consistent performances in domestic cricket. After 30 first-class games, he boasts a batting average of nearly 61 and after 64 List-A games has an average of more than 50.

In 2017, as a 17-year-old, Rasooli made his List-A debut for Speen Ghar region and needed only two outings to score his first century in the format when he made 130 against Amo Region. His breakout year was 2018, when he was selected to feature in Afghanistan's maiden Under-19 World Cup appearance early in the year, then earned his maiden call-up into the international team for a T20I series against Bangladesh, although he did not get a game. Later, in September, he top scored in the Ahmad Shah Abdali 4-Day Tournament with 1073 runs in eight matches with five fifties and three centuries, with a high score of 249.

Despite all his potential, Rasooli had to wait until 2022 for his debut T20I. In his first seven games, he had a top score of only 15 not out and failed to cement his place in the side. But, in December 2024, Rasooli scored his first T20I half-century - an unbeaten 58 in Afghanistan's win over Zimbabwe in Harare.

Rasooli has also been a regular in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), representing three teams since 2019.
