A tall, springy seamer, Jamie Atkins was one among a crop of homegrown youngsters given their head by Sussex in the early 2020s. A first-class debut at 18 was followed by back-to-back five-wicket hauls at Leeds and Canterbury, in his third and fourth appearances. Atkins, who had been on the club's books since the age of 10, was duly rewarded with a three-year contract at the end of 2021.
