that's wicket number 700 and that's the end of the Test match as well, Murali gives it some air on off and middle stump, Rasel tries to hit it down the ground but spoons it in the air towards Maharoof at mid off who runs to his right and takes the catch, the Sri Lankans mob Murali and the crowd cheer and cheer, what a champion the man is
Sri Lanka vs Bangladesh, 3rd Test at Kandy, Jul 11 2007 - Match Result
Murali has become the fastest to 700 wickets in Tests (113 matches), going past Shane Warne's 144
Sri Lanka win by an innings and 193 runs. They sweep the series 3-0 and have won each match by an innings. Bangladesh have been soundly thrashed. Murali took the last wicket of the series to reach 700 Test wickets. It's been picture perfect for Sri Lanka.
This is only the third time that a team has won all matches in a three-Test series by an innings. The earlier instances are when England beat West Indies in 1928 and India defeated Sri Lanka in 1994. Such a whitewash has never occured in a five-Test series.
Muralitharan is the Man of the Match for his 12 wickets in the Test. He says he's a little surprised that he was able to get to 700 Test wickets. Such modesty! He is also the Man of the Series for taking 26 wickets in three Tests. Kumar Sangakkara scored 428 runs in three innings and doesn't win anything. But well played nonetheless.
That's it from us at Cricinfo for today. Thank you for following the Test series with us. The one-dayers begin on July 20, hopefully that series will be a little more competitive. This is George Binoy signing off.
Rasel sweeps Murali from outside off stump through midwicket for four, imagine that!
Two balls to go in the over. Syed Rasel is the last man. Murali on 699 Test wickets.
that's number 699! Murali tosses one up outside off stump, Shahadat tries to play the slog sweep but misses it completely, the balls spins sharply into the right-hander and rattles the stumps

Shahadat tries to sweep Murali through square leg but misses and gets hit on the pad
defended on the back foot
I had mentioned that Murali was on 598 Test wickets at the start of his last over. My apologies, it is 698, and here he is again.
another excellent yorker, Rafique manages to poke it towards covers
the yorker at 140 kmh sears into middle and leg stump, Rafique hardly moves his feet but gets his bat down quickly and defends it
Malinga bowls it full on off stump, Rafique digs it out to third slip
Malinga gives Rafique a short ball over leg and middle stump, Rafique ducks under it
Shahadat backs away and punches a short of a length delivery through covers
banged in short on off stump, Shahadat backs away towards square leg and defends towards cover
Shahadat plays the slog sweep to the fielder on the midwicket boundary
flighted delivery on middle and leg stump, Shahadat somehow keeps it out
defended on the front foot to silly point
tossed up from round the wicket, Shahadat drives towards midwicket
pitches on off stump and spins towards leg, Shahadat plays back and defends
the doosra spins away from Shahadat who doesn't have much of a clue how to play it
Murali begins another over, he's on 598 wickets. He won't want to give Malinga too much of a shot at the tail.
the slower yorker outside off stump, Rafique waits for it and plays it to third slip
the attempted yorker strays down leg side and Shahadat flicks it down to fine leg
