full toss again wide outside off, flicked to fine leg to end the match. Amir motions at the umpire as he's not pleased again with something from Naveen and now has a word with Gurbaz to relay to his mate. That's the end of the fun and games for now. Munaf has a word with Naveen to chillax.
Tuskers vs Galle, 6th Match at Hambantota, LPL, Nov 30 2020 - Match Result
That's it from us tonight! Come back tomorrow for another LPL doubleheader. I'm Peter Della Penna. Take care!
Man of the Match Brendan Taylor: "I had a lot of energy from lying down for five days [in quarantine]. I generally try to give myself a few balls and gauge where the field is at [before trying a reverse sweep] but with point up and slip I thought I'd try it first ball. It worked well today. My power game was a bit off today so tried to find other ways to nudge it around. The pitch definitely favors the batters but with the skills our bowlers have I think we can get some momentum."
Kandy Tuskers captain Kusal Perera: "Badly we needed a win. We set a very good plan and executed it. Brendan Taylor and Kusal Mendis they have a lot of experience in T20 games and they are key players for the Kandy Tuskers."
Galle Gladiators captain Shahid Afridi: "In the first few games we were struggling to bowl in the right areas with fast bowlers so we tried extra spinners today. I think that total was chaseable, but the main thing was keeping wickets in hand. We didn't. We must give credit to these guys as well, they played very well. But in the batting, I was expecting more and keeping wickets in hand is important."
11.40 pm The war of words between Amir and Naveen continues as the handshake, or should I say elbow bump, line continues. Some spice to keep in mind for a future encounter. Afridi has a scowl at Naveen during the post-match line as well. Anyway, Tuskers get off the mark with a solid win as Kusal Mendis works his magic with some good bowling changes standing in for the injured Kusal Perera, who never took the field after getting pinged on the thigh with a painful delivery first innings. Mendis' 49 was buttressed by Taylor's unbeaten 51 to make sure the Tuskers had enough to defend in the chase. Gunathilaka with a valiant effort but losing Afridi for a golden duck was a crushing blow.
full toss on the hips, flicked to deep square leg for one.
short on the stumps, flicked behind square for a single.
TV speed gun is broken. Last ball was an offcutter clocked at "138 kph". Naveen's stock ball at max pace isn't anywhere near there.
slower length ball on the stumps, Amir walks across his stumps to try to flick this over short fine leg, thin edge bounces well short of the keeper.
back of a length ball follows Amir backing away from leg, but this time Amir can't heave it away.
Amir and Naveen had a feisty war of words last over. Umpires needed to step in to cool things down.
length ball, Amir tonks Naveen for six over long-on. Just five more of those needed.
35 off 6 balls. Yes Gladiators fans... Lloyd Christmas is telling you there's a chance.
full pace yorker on sixth stump dug out to the cover sweeper.
slower yorker outside off, Amir flails way in front of this at 113 kph.
yorker on sixth stump, Shiraz walks way outside his stumps and flicks this to deep fine leg.
attempted yorker finally goes awry as it winds up being a thigh high full toss on sixth stump, opens the face to use the pace and guide this past short third man for an easy four.
Death bowling yorker masterclass in progress from Nuwan Pradeep.
wide yorker again, this time stabbed out to deep point by Amir.
wide yorker, Amir can't get bat on this.
full on the legs, dug out to deep midwicket.
full and wide yorker, swings over the top of this as it screams past off stump. Was more of a low full toss but missed regardless.
fullish length on fifth stump, driven high over mid-off and clears the man in the ring with ease.
slower bouncer on the legs at 125 kph, drags a pull down the leg side for a long one, they try to hustle back in vain for a suicide second so Gunathilaka can keep strike but a brilliant direct hit from the boundary by Asela Gunaratne catches him four yards short.
bouncer at 128 kph catches Shiraz off guard and a top edged pull flutters safely into square leg.
Shiraz was excellent at the death in the first innings but Naveen and Pradeep are matching him and then some now.
attempted yorker from Naveen is a shin high full toss on the stumps stabbed to long-on.
full and wide again, Gunathilaka misses a drive as Taylor fumbles a straightforward take and allows a bye. The Zimbabwean is muttering to himself as he starts walking to the opposite end for the next over.
another wide yorker, jammed back to Pradeep, who fields as his gold chain gets tangled on his right ear.
