A six-wicket haul from the captain James Hopes ensured that Queensland finished the season in third place on the Sheffield Shield table, with victory by an innings and three runs over Victoria. A career-best unbeaten 113 from Matthew Wade wasn't enough for the Bushrangers to make the Bulls bat again, as they were dismissed for 306.
Wade had support from Chris Rogers (73) and Glenn Maxwell, who made 61, but they couldn't recover from their first innings of 119 and will likely finish second-last on the table. Hopes collected 6 for 89, while the fast bowlers Luke Feldman and Alister McDermott each picked up two.
The win was Darren Lehmann's first as the full-time coach of Queensland, after he was appointed to the role during the week. Lehmann has been named as the coach of the Bulls for the 2011-12 summer, after the mid-season departure of Trevor Barsby.
