At 199 centimetres, Cameron Gannon is a tall fast bowler who gains good bounce, but his impressive 2012-13 season ended with the ignominy of being banned by Cricket Australia after his action was found to be illegal. Gannon had been reported during the Sheffield Shield final against Tasmania and biomechanical analysis at the Australian Institute of Sport found he bowled with an illegal action for all deliveries, with an average elbow extension of 24 degrees - far in excess of the allowable 15-degree limit. It meant Gannon would be unable to play for Queensland again until he could prove that he had adjusted his action appropriately. Gannon had collected 31 Shield wickets at 23.51 during the 2012-13 summer, having been a fringe member of the state side since making his debut in 2010-11.
