Netherlands fold to Ouma and Ongondo

Kenya crushed a makeshift Netherlands side within two days at Amstelveen to complete an innings-and-six-run victory, lifting them clear at the top of the table. The basis for the win was a superb century from Maurice Ouma and another impressive display from the seam attack led by Peter Ongondo.

Ouma was the only batsman in the match to score a half-century and the next highest score was 41. It was a commanding display as he built Kenya a priceless lead of 127 during the morning session. He had to work hard early on as the Netherlands attack made life tough, but as wickets fell he came out his shell to reach his second first-class century.

Pieter Seelaar did his best to limit the lead and removed Ouma with a leading edge on the way to his 5 for 57, but Kenya's advantage was substantial considering the weak Netherlands batting line-up.

For the second time in the match they crumbled as Ongondo claimed his best first-class figures. The home side didn't help themselves with some loose strokeplay, as Rifaiz Bakas, Nick Statham and Eric Szwarczynski fell to a collection of poor cut shots against Ongondo.

Only Atse Buurman showed much resistance with 41 as Hiren Varaiya also picked up three cheap wickets. It was a sobering match for Netherlands, showing that depth is severely lacking in their game, but a timely tonic for Kenya after a troubled time touring Europe.
