wraps it up with a six! Afghanistan level the series. Short of a length on middle, and keeps a touch low too. But he is deep in the crease while pulling that all the way over deep midwicket, where he just clears the longer boundary
Bangladesh vs Afghanistan, 2nd T20I at Dhaka, BAN v AFG, Mar 05 2022 - Match Result
Afghanistan won by 8 wickets (with 14 balls remaining)
Mahmudullah and Nabi pose together with the T20I trophy. That's the end of the presentation and our coverage too. On behalf of my fellow commentator Himanshu Agarwal and scorer K Vairavan, this is Sruthi Ravindranath signing off. See you all soon!
Afghanistan captain Mohammad Nabi: "The boys played well. We threw one wicket early but we came back well. In the first game, we did mistakes in batting and we learnt from it. On young players: we try to build a young bench for Asia Cup and World Cup. We're trying our best to keep the momentum going."
Fazalhaq Farooqi is Player of the Series for his five wickets in two games: "I'm very happy and I dedicate it to my country. We are a young side, we did whatever we could do and won it."
MVP is Hazratullah Zazai.
And the Player of the Match is Azmatullah Omarzai for his 3 for 22: "I tried my best to do, I'm very happy. It was a dream to perform for the team, glad I bowled a lot of dot balls in addition to getting wickets."
Bangladesh captain Mahmudullah: "Yeah, it was a good wicket to bat on, but no enough partnerships. Very disappointed. It wasn't 150 wicket but 130 gettable. No partnerships especially upfront. Me and Mushi were trying to get a partnership, sometimes you get lucky. Both of us could have scored a few more. We need to find something to work on [the fielding]. it's been bothering us, we need to improve on fielding. I think we'll have more T20 games in July. Hopefully we can come back strong."
6.41pm Time for presentation
Before we head to the presentation: Rashid Khan spoke emotionally about Shane Warne during innings break, admitting it was a tough for him to come out and play today:
"It was a huge honour for me, I bowled with him at MCG [on the sidelines of Boxing Day Test in 2019]. I was very, very keen to bowl with him for my long-format [learnings], especially Test cricket. He told me whenever you are with me I will be happy to help you with the format and I was just waiting for that opportunity. We talked when I was in Big Bash this year as well, we talked about the long format, he called me and we discussed this.
"It was super tough [preparing for today's game]. I did not know how to go on and play cricket, he was in my mind the whole night. I was not believing it when I woke up on the morning, I checked my phone a couple of times... 'What happened last night?' It's very hard to accept that."
Chris: "Bangladesh awful in every department today. A game to forget for sure "
6.18pm A very good comeback by the visitors after falling short by 61 runs in the first T20I. They kept Bangladesh to 115 courtesy of a disciplined bowling effort, and then wiped out the runs needed with more than two overs to go and eight wickets in hand. Very composed knocks from Zazai and Ghani, and the hosts were not helped by dropped catches either. Anyway, the series is leveled, and stick around for the presentations.
another dot. Full ball on off, and pushed to cover
good length on his pads, and clipped to short fine leg
full and fired on off, and the batter finds cover with his drive
Just 1 to win now, and here comes Nasum from around the wicket.
just clears long-on! That was a bottom-handed loaded six, almost like a left-hander Dhoni. The ball was right in the slot and full on middle, as he got his front leg out of the way to smash that over the leaping fielder
slower ball, and full on middle. Flicked to deep midwicket with the closed face of the bat
much fuller on middle, and dragged to long-on after getting his front leg out of the way
slower ball, and short of a length outside off. There is good bounce, and he misses his attempted pull
short of a length on middle and off, as he rides the bounce to tap that to third man
Stays over the wicket to Rasooli
strikes his back pad with a yorker on leg, and they go up in appeal for a leg before. Not given, but Bangladesh review after much thought. First up, it is a fair delivery, and there is on inside edge too. From replays I feel the ball pitches just about outside leg. Yup, the ball is tailing in on its way, and pitches just outside leg. So there is no checking after that
Shoriful back from over the wicket. Can Afghanistan finish it off within an over or two?
this comes on with the angle, turning in off a fullish length on middle. Clipped toward deep square leg for a single
Azweer: "This is what expected from Afghanistan, the top order to be firm and firing."
good length ball on middle and leg, as it takes his pad while trying to clip
full on middle, and tossed up with a roundarm action. Blocked back
Around the wicket to Zazai
fuller on middle and leg, and turned away toward short fine leg
back of a length on middle and turning in. Clipped toward square leg
Rasooli in now.
And he strikes first ball! Shortish in length and just outside off, as Ghani has a poke at that without foot movement while playing away from his body. He must have been restricted with that injury, and so ended up getting a faint tickle into the keeper's gloves. Litton and his captain know it much before the umpire gives it out, and Ghani has to go after a fine innings
Mahmudullah himself has the ball now. Over the wicket.
bowls slower, and on a good length on middle. He tries to clip, but the ball lobs off his pad. Litton from behind tries to catch that, but there is a little friendly mix-up between him and Zazai
six more, and Zazai is dominating Shakib here! That's his fifty too. Full ball on middle, and he slog-sweeps that over deep square leg for another six
Around the stumps to Zazai too
full on off, and driven to long-on. Again he is limping while running
Around the wicket to Ghani
fuller and slower, and outside off. Tucked toward point
