8.3 to Javed Omar, this time Vaas pushes one across him and Omar cant resist poking at it off the front foot, and the regulation edge is taken easily by Jawardene behind the stumps. 28/2
7 | 0 | 31 | 1 | 4.42 | 32 | 4 | 0 | 0 | 6 | |
7.3 to Shahriar Nafees, caught behind down the leg stump, full and swinging down and Nafees flicks, the ball carries well to a diving Jayawardene behind the stumps, Malinga and all go up in appeal and umpire Shastri nods his head on Test debut before raising the finger, was there bat on that?. 28/1
11 | 2 | 33 | 3 | 3.00 | 50 | 3 | 0 | 0 | 0 | |
11.3 to Habibul Bashar, and he gets his man early! Pitches full on leg stump and swings down, Bashar plays all over it, the ball thuds into the pad, they all appeal and umpire Shastri gives his second decision. 32/3 15.4 to Mohammad Ashraful, another one bites the dust! The trap was set with two men on the leg side for this very shot, and Ashraful cant contain himself, pulling a short-pitched delivery into the waiting hands of deep midwicket. 43/4 23.5 to Shahadat Hossain, needless shot on the stroke of lunch! Having defended Murali so well, Shahadat pulls a short delivery awfully poorly, unsure of which way to go, and cover only has to just come a few steps back and hold the simplest of catches. 64/7
7.3 | 3 | 15 | 5 | 2.00 | 37 | 2 | 0 | 0 | 0 | |
18.5 to Rajin Saleh, got 'em! Murali fizzes one up on a length, landing on middle and leg, a clueless Saleh goes back in his crease and plays over it, gets struck in front of the stumps and Asad Rauf has no hesitation in giving that. 50/5 20.4 to Shakib Al Hasan, the stumping costs nothing, as Murali gets his man with the doosra! Lands on about middle and off and strikes Shakib, offering no shot, in front of the stumps for an easy decision from Asad Rauf, Murali having no hassles against such batting. 61/6 26.5 to Mashrafe Mortaza, tossed up on a length, Mortaza comes forward and defends, the ball straightens and beats him, Jayawardene whips off the bails in a flash and replays show Mortaza just dragged the back leg out of the crease, smart work from the 'keeper to atone for the early fumble off Murali. 69/8 30.6 to Mohammad Rafique, but he gets him this time, Rafique, deep in his crease, playing half-cock forward to one that pitches in line with the stumps and straightens, a vociferous appeal from Murali and Jayawardene is upheld with little hesitation from Asad Rauf and Murali moves to 678!. 85/9 32.3 to Abdur Razzak, five for Murali! Tossed up, Razzak gets down and wildly heaves across the line, misses it completely and Jayawardene completes a smart stumping to round off the Bangladesh innings at a paltry 89. 89/10 |

Mortaza strikes! The new ball has made a difference. It was a rather poor delivery, very wide outside the off stump, Mahela reached out for it and tried to slash it over point, he couldn't control it and ended up hitting it straight to Shakib at point. 184/2 80.4 to DPMD Jayawardene, Mortaza strikes! The new ball has made a difference. It was a rather poor delivery, very wide outside the off stump, Mahela reached out for it and tried to slash it over point, he couldn't control it and ended up hitting it straight to Shakib at point. 354/6

1.1 to SM Warnapura, and its a first-ball duck on Test debut for Warnapura, failing to pick the length and going back in his crease, Shahadat gets it to move from leg stump and the batsman is trapped in front of about middle and leg, Bangladesh make an early breakthrough!. 1/1 3.4 to KC Sangakkara, edged and gone! Shahadat drops another one short, outside off stump, gets it to nip back in ever so slightly and Sangakkara, who goes for a repeat of the previous pull, gets cramped for room and the thin outside edge is gleefully snapped up by Mashud, who takes it well as it gains on him. 14/2

41.2 to LPC Silva, good ball, good catch! Razzak gets Silva cheaply, getting one to pitch on leg stump, spin sharply, and catch the edge of the bat as he goes back in his crease, and thats a smart, tumbling catch by Mortaza at slip, moving to his right and taking it low. 187/3

66.6 to MG Vandort, got him! Finally the breakthrough for Bangladesh. Rafique angles the ball into Vandort who gets a long stride in and defends, the ball hits the inside of the bat, hits the pad, and bobs up to Shahriar Nafees at forward short leg who takes an easy catch. 304/4

43.2 to Habibul Bashar, excellent catch! Vaas draws Bashar forward with one that pitches on a good length and slants away, the ball hits the outside edge but starts dipping on it's way to the wicketkeeper, Prasanna Jayawardene dives forward to complete a sharp catch. 160/3

34.1 to Javed Omar, plumb! Perhaps one of the simplest lbw decisions an umpire has had to make, Malinga bowls a fast and inswinging yorker on middle stump, Omar is late in bringing his bat down and gets struck flush on the back boot, that would have crashed into middle stump. 126/2 84.1 to Khaled Mashud, bowled him! Malinga hits the spot with the yorker, it swings in to Mashud and he's very late in getting his bat down it time, the ball goes between bat and pad and crashed into off and middle. 238/6 86.2 to Shakib Al Hasan, another one falls, Malinga bowls it just short of a length outside the off stump, it bounces higher that Shakib expected, he went on the back foot and played a punch in the air towards Warnapura at short cover, his feet were in no position to play the shot and he was early on the shot because the ball stopped on him. 252/8 86.5 to Mohammad Rafique, bowled him, Malinga beats Rafique all ends up with the slower yorker, that dipped sharply and Rafique had left all stumps exposed and lost middle stump. 253/9
36.1 | 12 | 87 | 4 | 2.40 | 179 | 14 | 0 | 0 | 0
21.2 to Shahriar Nafees, caught and bowled! Murali tossed it up on off stump, Nafees made a little room and tried to smash it back over the bowler's head, he didn't get enough elevation but he hit that pretty hard, Murali takes a sharp catch at head height. 86/1 81.6 to Mohammad Ashraful, what has Ashraful done? He uses his feet to step down the pitch intending to hit it over midwicket, he doesn't get to the pitch of the ball and mis-hits it straight to Vaas at long on, what a way to end a patient and determined innings. 231/5 85.5 to Mashrafe Mortaza, that was plumb! Murali pitches the doosra on middle and leg stump, Mortaza gets half a stride in and plays for the offspin, the ball turns across him and hits him plumb in front of middle stump. 250/7 87.1 to Shahadat Hossain, that's the end of the Test! Murali bowls the big-spinning offbreak outside off stump, Shahadat lunges forward at it and drags his back leg outside the crease, the ball spins between bat and pad to Prasanna Jayawardene who whips of the bails and heads towards the dressing-room. 254/10
15 | 5 | 28 | 0 | 1.86 | 76 | 4 | 0 | 0 | 1 | |
7 | 3 | 11 | 1 | 1.57 | 35 | 1 | 0 | 0 | 0 | |
78.5 to Rajin Saleh, caught! That was flighted through the air outside the off stump, Saleh pushes forward and plays a half-hearted drive, the ball hits the outside edge to Mahela Jayawardene who's as safe as they come at first slip, Sri Lanka have broken a frustrating partnership. 227/4 |
