full, angling across, and Subrayen swings and misses
Lahore Lions vs Dolphins, 14th Match, Group A at Bengaluru, Sep 27 2014 - Ball by Ball Commentary
7.20pm And that is that. Hope you enjoyed the game, and you can hop over herefor commentary from the match between Chennai Super Kings and Perth Scorchers. From me and Chandan, it's bye bye.
7.15pm Presentation time.
Mohammad Hafeez has a smile on his face, but looks just a touch haggard. "It's a beautiful game of cricket and we know that T20 can give you anything," he says. "Umar Akmal was exceptionally good and Saad Nasim gave him excellent support. Everyone chipped in very well. We were very confident, we knew we had very good spinners, and they have done a really good job."
Umar Akmal is the man of the match He thanks the crowd for their support, and says the captain simply told him to "go out there and show your talent". He dedicates the award to "my mom and dad and wife."
Hezb Khan: "Amazing performance from the birthday boy. Din't win the match but surely dented NRR of Lions. CSK win tonight and they are through to the Semis based on their high NRR"
And here's Frylinck. They came off every part of his bat, he says, pointing to the middle and then to the edges. "Someone's got to lose, unfortunately. We came so close in the first game, unfortunately I got two balls wrong."
Morne van Wyk "We just haven't clicked, we arrived prepared really well. The Perth game could have been so different so easily, and you know what the consequences of that might have been [he's talking about those sixes off the last two balls from Mitchell Marsh]."
INFAS: "What an innings he played for CSK"
7.05pm And that is that. What an entertaining finish to a match that was headed for a one-sided finish. Frylinck, who had already taken three wickets, hit the ball so cleanly during that unbeaten innings of 63, and reached his half-century in 20 balls. Has anyone had a better 30th birthday? Only thing he couldn't do was win the game for his side, but that wasn't his fault by any means.
Ahsan Malik: "We are just trying to give Frylinck a good time on his birthday thats all this clearly shows how much Pakistani's care about there fellow cricketers "
yorker on middle stump, and he makes room and drives that firmly to deep cover. That's the last ball he'll face, and the Chinnaswamy gives him a lovely round of applause
looks for the slower bouncer, and ends up bowling a wide down the leg side. Frylinck simply walks across and lets it go past him
shortish ball, and it's onto him too quickly to pull from outside off. Can only jam this back down the pitch towards the bowler
full-toss outside off, and he's sliced under it and launched it over the third man boundary
that's full and wide and they sneak a bye after Subrayen swings and misses again. Akmal misses with the underarm throw. Would have been out if he had hit the stumps
angles this across Subrayen, who swings hard at it and misses. Why wasn't he looking to simply get Frylinck on strike?
26 to get from the last over. Wahab has been expensive, but it's Subrayen on strike
pushed through flat, and the ball hits Frylinck high on the pad as he swings his body around and misses connecting with the pull
short ball, and it turns very sharply to beat Frylinck as he looks to pull that high over midwicket
this one is a touch short, and he swats that back past the bowler. Long-on dives to his left and gets a hand to it but can't stop the ball from rolling onto the boundary cushion
and he makes room and launches it into the gap between those two fielders. It's fielded by Hafeez, who essentially saves four runs. The batsmen could have run two, but they didn't even run one. Oh well
deep extra cover and long-off are back
length ball on off stump, and he knocks this down to long-on to bring Frylinck back on strike. Bangalore roars
back of a length, not short enough to cut, and the ball beats his outside edge
Alex: "Some ordinary and bizarre captaincy by Hafeez. Cheema has gone for plenty, spinners have their overs left and still he goes for him. This is going to hurt their net run rate big time. And who knows if they lose the game from here."
Hafeez listens to Alex and goes back to his spinners. Here's Mustafa Iqbal, the left-arm spinner
back of a length outside off, slower ball, and boom, out comes that meaty swing of the bat and the ball soars over wide long-on again. Fifty up for Frylinck, off 20 balls.
slower ball outside off, and it beats Frylinck as he stands there and looks to swat it over long-on again
This is most certainly the greatest allround performance in a Twenty20 game by a man celebrating his 30th birthday.
another full-toss, outside off, and he has all the room in the world to free his arms and just punch that over the wide long-on boundary. He just jabbed at it, not much of a follow-through, but how well did he middle that?
bish, bash, bosh, and over long-on! It's a waist-high full-toss, and Hafeez moves across to his right and leaps backward but can only help the ball over the rope as he looks to reach overhead and push it back into the field of play
yorker on off stump, and he jabs that down to the left of mid-off and they manage to run two
that is hit flat and hard. It was a length ball, angling in towards off stump, and he cleared his front leg and smashed that over the leaping long-on fielder
slants this in too far, and the ball rebounds off the pads into the covers
