Full outside off, driven aerially between the bowler and short mid-on. It goes to mid-on, they complete the single.
NZ Women vs AUS Women, 2nd Semi-Final at Birmingham, CWG 2022, Aug 06 2022 - Match Result
AUS Women won by 5 wickets (with 3 balls remaining)
A couple of entertaining knockout games have led us to an Australia vs India final. Before that, there's a 3rd place playoff for the bronze medal between England and New Zealand. See you then. For now, it's goodbye from me, Ekanth, on behalf of my fellow comms-mate Sudarshahnan and our scorer, K Vairavan.
momo: "As usual Healy leaves her special innings for the finals. Goodluck Team India"
Tautoru: "Won it in the last over. Close. Those dropped catches…."
Daz: "This Australian team remind me of the Brazilian national soccer team of the late 90s "
8:58 pm: Smiles and high-fives in the Australian dugout. They make it to another final. New Zealand were in this, but dropping as many as five chances meant they could not get past the T20 world champions. Australia offered chances but the pros capitalised in between. Healy and Lanning were dismissed early. Mooney and McGrath had a 56-run stand which steadied the innings. There were drop chances in them. But what mattered more was that the duo kept up with the rate. When they were dismissed, Haynes and Gardner continued to move the innings forward. In the end, Australia won with three balls to spare. But spare a thought for Lea Tahuhu, who wasn't initially in the squad, but had enviable accuracy. She picked three but could have had six on another day. Kerr was decent but had a missed stumping chance, the skipper tried to dry the runs at the end but the equation was too far in Australia's favour.
Full on the pads, flicked. It goes to square leg. They sneak a single. Scores are level.
Appeal for a strangle down leg. Not out. It was a full ball on the pads, she tried to clip it fine. Tickled the pad to the keeper.
Joel: "Surely Hannah Rowe gets the last over. Batting at Nine as well. " It'll be Devine
Yorker outside off, driven to short cover.
Full ball, clipped to short midwicket.
Full on off, clipped to long-on.
Full outside off, driven to deep cover.
Diwi : "Where is the other Kerr sibling? She seemed so promising." Jess, she's not in the squad.
Outside edge, goes fine. It's between keeper and short third. Four! It was full and outside off, Gardner went for the flashy drive and had luck on her side
Very full on the pads, flicked to long-on.
Mark: "This has been a lot better showing by NZ. If they could have added a few more runs at the end and taken those early catching chances, who knows what might have been?"
Close to a yorker, clipped to midwicket who stops it with a dive.
Wide full toss, Harris reaches out and gets the cover drive off the bottom of the bat. It's at a catching height but well to the right of cover and finds the boundary.
Full outside off, driven. Finds cover. The crowd goes up in applause. They're tuned in.
Loud calls of 'catch' but it falls well in front of long-on, running across to her left. It was a low full toss that was lofted straight.
Full and wide, beats the drive but it's outside the tramline.
Stunner taken by Bates at long-on! It was a full ball on middle, Haynes had made room and tried to swipe it over cow corner. Got it off the splice, it was a skier. Bates ran in, dove forward, leaning slightly to her right and grabbed it low. Followed it with a fist pump. Maybe too late but better than never.
Low full toss on middle, heaved over wide mid-on. Deep midwicket runs across but can't get anywhere near it. Haynes crouched very low to get underneath it.
Ritam: "Aussies are not at their absolute best in this series. But in every match, they are finding ways to win. That's just amazing"
Chops a length ball outside off to point.
Missed opportunity, this was full and flighted over off. Haynes came down and tried to loft it but got beaten in the flight. It hit the keeper's right wrist/mitt and rebound to her right.
Full and wide, driven along the ground to deep cover.
Tossed up wide, the full ball is dragged along the ground with the broomlike shot to wide long-on. They run fast and complete two.
