0.6 to PR Stirling, Wheal swoops in from his followthrough and clings onto a sharp return catch. He claims the catch and the finger goes up. He sends Stirling packing for a duck. This was an excellent delivery: a length ball that nips back in from outside off. Stirling presses forward to defend. Instead, he inside-edges it onto his thigh pad. The ball pops up, Wheal dives forward and snaffles it. Great reflexes shown by the bowler. 1/1 11.4 to WTS Porterfield, chopped on! Short of a length, not much room, Porterfield can't entirely open up as he attempts to punch it away. 45/2 48.2 to Simi Singh, gets down on one knee and tries to scoop this but it's slower and not full enough, and it cuts in to take the top of leg stump. 263/7

47.3 to GC Wilson, gets down and across for a paddle and gets a leading edge to square leg. 258/6 49.4 to BJ McCarthy, picks a full toss to hole out to long-on. Catching practice for the man there as he does not have to move an inch. Flayed into his hands from the crease. 270/8

45.6 to KJ O'Brien, gone! This time he's picked out the fielder. It was on a fuller length and Kevin pushes away from the body to find the outside edge and be caught at gully. 251/5

6.1 to MH Cross, Murtagh provides Ireland with the breakthrough. Wilson throws himself to his left from first slip and snags an excellent catch. This was a good length ball put a shade outside off, nips away, Cross aims for a leg-side slog. He can only send a thick outside edge behind. 26/1 40.1 to RD Berrington, Murtagh knocks out Berrington's off stump. This was not short enough for a pull and the line is on off. Berrington still goes for a pull and loses his off stump. Berrington goes and with it Scotland's hopes?. 183/7

42.5 to SM Sharif, McCarthy deceives Sharif with a slower ball from the back of the hand. Sharif does not read the change-up. He slogs early and loses his off stump. 200/8 44.2 to CB Sole, McCarthy has Sole caught behind. The batsman dares to step down the track. McCarthy pulls his length back. Sole hangs his periscope up and gives a catch to the keeper. 208/9

23.6 to KJ Coetzer, bowled him! The set batsman is gone. Crucial, crucial blow, this. Just caught in neither foot and stays back to one that he should have been forward to. The delivery nips back from a fullish length and takes out the stumps. 112/3 25.2 to HG Munsey, edged and taken. Slashes at a back of a length delivery that nips away without any feet and gets a healthy outside edge that Niall dives to his left to snaffle. Four down. Scotland's chase getting harder. 114/4 27.4 to CD Wallace, that's an awful way to get out. Catch practice for the bowler who's been gift-wrapped a wicket. Backs away early and Rankin follows him and drags the length back. He awkwardly slaps it back without being able to free his arms and can only get it as far as into the hands of the bowler. 122/5 47.4 to BTJ Wheal, Ireland keep their World Cup hopes alive! Back of a length on off, Rankin bowls a heavy ball. Wheal backs away again for a biiiig slog. He only snicks it behind. Niall throws himself to his right, and clings onto the one-handed catch to wrap things up for Ireland. 246/10

18.4 to CS MacLeod, has he taken that? Yes, the fielder seems confident. This time the sweep goes right off the middle of the bat, and that is why it goes straight into the hands of the fielder. A top-edge might have carried it over. The eccentricities of cricket. Balbirnie takes it reverse-cupped, moves back and to his left with the momentum and ends up doing a fine balancing act in front of the square leg boundary. They confirm upstairs and it's fine. 94/2 30.3 to MA Leask, he's holed out here. Leaks advances down the ground and it seems as though he's got to the pitch of this but ends up carving it straight over off the bottom of the bat. Long-on moves to his left and snaffles it. 132/6 |
