tossed up on off, Morgan drives it down the ground, to the left of long-off, they decide to go for a second, the winning run... and Anwar can't collect with the run-out beckoning! England have won, Buttler sliding home on his shirtfront to seal victory in their very first Super Over!
England vs Pakistan, 3rd T20I at Sharjah, Nov 30 2015 - Match Result
12.20am: It's getting rather late so, from Gnasher and me, it's goodnight and good luck. Thanks, as ever, for your contributions to three thoroughly entertaining series between Pakistan and England out in the UAE. We'll be back for more fun and frolics soon (after a lie down). Cheerio!
12.05am: Time for the presentations... This match has gone on so long it's now Tuesday. Chris Jordan wins Smart Player for his Super Over, Chris Woakes the Most Colourful Innings, Shahid Afridi the Outstanding Performance. And Shoaib Malik is named Man of the Match for his 75 from 54 balls: "Yes I would have been very happy if we won the game but this is T20 cricket and I would like to congratulate the English team for the way they played throughout the series. We played hard but tomorrow is a new day and whatever mistakes we have made we will try to do better. I tried to clear the boundary, I'm not that strong and I couldn't, I think my hand it still struggling a bit... We need to work on certain areas, we'll sit down with the management and discuss things. I'm a senior cricketer, I need to contribute with my bowling, it's my responsiblity to deliver."
Afridi is Pakistan's Man of the Series and for England it is James Vince: "Yes, it's pleasing to contribute to the wins, it's my first series so a nice way to start. It's nice to get an opportunity, some of the situations I was in I had to steady it but I enjoyed every minute."
Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi: "I must give credit to the English team, these guys did really well in the ODIs and T20. We played well, batted well but missed the opportunity again. There were five overs we didn't bowl well, Shoaib Malik set things up and showed the batsmen the way to build an innings. England is a world-class team, we've had great preparation, lots of things have come out of this series and we will work on it. We've discussed things with the coach and we have a gap to sort things out. [Jordan] bowled well, perfect yorkers and he didn't give us any room, he really bowled well."
England captain Eoin Morgan: "It's really topped off a fantastic tour for us, I don't think we deserved to win tonight but the fight within the camp, taking it to a Super Over and Chris Jordan stood up, six perfect yorkers, brilliant stuff. He said he'd love to bowl, we set a field and he stood up to the plate. [Squad depth] That's really important for us, we haven't the privilege of a huge domestic T20 tournament, so it's important we expose our guys to pressure situations, putting our skills under pressure. Fortunately tonight we came out the better side. It's important for us to continue to develop as a team as much as we can."
11.55pm: It's nearly midnight in Abu Dhabi and England have finished their tour of the UAE in some style, wrapping up a final victory in the limited-overs leg. This is their first-ever 3-0 T20 series win and it means they swap places with Pakistan in the ICC rankings, up from No. 6 to No. 4. Chris Jordan, eh? That was some iron-grip choke-hold death bowling, but what a cracking match it was to get to that stage. England dragged themselves up from a rather sorry 86 for 6, Pakistan then recovered from 65 for 5 but Shoaib Malik's fabulous innings was not quite enough, as he fell to the penultimate ball of the innings.
flighted topspinner, Buttler drives through the covers, past the infield but there's a man sweeping on the boundary
full on the stumps, Buttler reverses the hands and connects well but he sends it to Rafatullah on the bounce at backward point, he gets the throw in looking for the run-out but the batsman had regained his ground - another dot ball!
tossed up, around off stump from over the wicket, Morgan elects to push one through mid-off and take the single
Morgan to face, Afridi slides a loopy legbreak across outside off and he fails to connect... a good start!
Of course, Pakistan can still make this exciting again, it's possible to bowl England out by taking two wickets... Afridi is going to bowl, England send out Buttler and Morgan
A masterful display of death bowling from Chris Jordan means England will only need to hit four from their six balls to take the game... That's actually a bit of an anti-climax
bowled him! Leg stump out of he ground as Umar went across his stumps attempting to ramp the ball to fine leg... He missed, Jordan hit and Pakistan have managed just three from their Super Over!
brilliant from Jordan! Yorker outside off, Umar crunches it into the ground and straight back to the bowler - another dot
he backs away, Jordan follows him, 90mph delivery at his toes, big swing and a miss, the ball spoons into the off side, just one again
pitched up, full bunger on middle and off, Umar clubs it through midwicket, can't get any elevation - just one to the man in the deep
another attempted yorker, comes out as a full toss on the pads and he goes for the almighty heave but misses. They take a legbye as the ball trickles to square leg
Jordan goes full on the pads, Afridi swings across the line and fails to connect! Nutmegs him and Buttler does well to grab it - dot ball
Well, breathless stuff. This game isn't over yet. It's now an over apiece. Pakistan will bat first. What a bonkers game of cricket this has been. So many mistakes in it, but some good stuff as well. Afridi is one of the batsmen at the crease...Jordan will bowl. Umar Akmal the other
it's a bye! We have a Super Over! They are checking for the run out but think Tanvir made it. Yes, he has! He missed his heave, Buttler gathered - he was standing back - and opted to under-arm (he didn't already have his glove off) to the non-striker's end because Anwar Ali had made such a head start on the run
Ahsan aslam: "I cant watch it ... "
One ball. Two runs. One for a Super Over. Khaqan Khan: "I want to see a super over!" You might well do. Long chat between a huddle of England players. It's been a terrificlly entertaining match
he's found long on! This game isn't over yet. He opts for the glory shot, trying to clear the boundary, but he can't get the leverage and it's a simple catch
Two balls. Two runs
clubbed towards mid-off and they scamper the run which brings Malik back into strike
Scott: "England will never be world champions until they learn how to bowl at the death, two games in a row they have failed to do it." This is part of that learning process. It's a tough job. And they won the first two matches, no?
dot ball! It was length again, wider outside off, Tanvir tried to swing through the leg side and couldn't make contact
Fielders going everywhere. Surely Pakistan's game.
that should just about seal it! Can't get the ball full enough, it's on a length at off stump and Tanvir strikes beautifully through the line over long on
josiah: "Dont we only get super overs in the wt20? otherwise it's a tie" Apparently not. No idea why you can't just a tie in bilateral matches. Anyway
full at the stumps, he can only heave to long on for a single...over to Tanvir
Ten to win. 9 for a Super Over. Woakes to bowl. omkar: "woakes vs malik.. who will be the MoM" Awais: "Super over On the Cards ;-)"
big full toss...is it a no-ball? Malik swings wildly and it bobbles to the off side. Borderline for waist height and Jordan gets away with it
down to third man! Swinging himself off his feet. Throwing the bat at a wide delivery, flies off the top edge fine of third man. Advantage Pakistan again
gets the yorker bang on target this time, outside off, Malik swings hard and the ball bounces back to Jordan. Priceless dot ball
full and straight, sweetly driven back down the pitch, Jordan flings himself to his right in his follow through and finger-tips it towards mid-off
rahul: "shoaib 2.0 is going to win it for pakistan!"
full toss outside off, crashed square through the off side and deep cover is able to keep it to a single
Rakesh: "@ Adam; Always happy to oblige the English cricket fans; but no worries for Pakistan fans as a dangerous S.Malik is still at the crease and support in Tanveer. Pakistan will still win it from here."
full toss outside off is driven to deep cover...that's fine from Tanvir
Jordan to bowl. What could Woakes defend off the last? 10? 8?
Brilliant placement in those last two shots by Malik
finds the gap again, those two deliveries swing it back Pakistan's way, Malik pulls a short delivery and slots it between deep midwicket and deep square
oh, fantastically played, he advanced down the pitch, the delivery was back of a length, he opened the face and bisected backward point and short third man
full outside off, stays in his crease and clubs it to long on
Sohail Tanvir at No. 8. Adam: "Rakesh with the jinx England needed!"
taken leg stump! Silence (relatively speaking) from the crowd. Afridi going to sweep a delivery which was not that full, he had moved a long away across, he missed and leg stump as clipped. Was a touch slower, too, at 71mph
goes across the crease and clips a full, straight delivery to deep square
drags a length ball down to long on, lost his shape on that shot
Rakesh: "We are seeing a Calm, Cool, Collected & Calculating Afridi today; (A lot of C's) and he looks more dangerous this way rather than when he is a frenzied assault mode. He is going to win this tonight for Pakistan in this mood."
another full toss, outside off again, and that's hammered towards deep cover but straight to the man on the boundary
gets a yorker in outside leg stump, well bowled, jabbed into midwicket
