5.5 to WU Tharanga, he's gone! An early strike! There was just a little bit of movement and the batsman plays all around it, two stumps being knocked out of the ground in the process. Well, Powell deserved that one - he's been asking the questions and finally he has his answer. 18/1 38.4 to ST Jayasuriya, a wide full toss, Jayasuriya drives with little footwork and drags the ball into his off stump. That's some quick work by Sangakkara, Lara dragging his back foot forward and his foot is in the air. The third umpire needed more than a second eye for that one, but he was clearly out, and Lara's on his way. Tidy work indeed from the keeper, standing up to Vaas. It was wide of off stump as well, so Gayle had to reach to drive, it went a long way up and Fernando, who was circling under the swirling ball as it descended from the heavens, held a good two-handed catch above his head two-thirds of the way towards the long-on boundary. 20/1 41.2 to S Chanderpaul, good reply from Malinga, right up in the blockhole, Chanderpaul aiming to pull that one, playing right over it, and knocking out the off stump. 173/8 | ||||||||||

Neither do all three armchair umpires in our office, who instantly trigger their fingers, too; well, it was plumber than a plum pudding that's had extra plums wodged in there. 147/5 43.4 to JE Taylor, pitched in-line and just did enough to go on to hit the stumps. 34.2 to RR Sarwan, Sarwan plays a pretty horrible cross-batted heave, misses and Sangakkara whips off the bails as Sarwan twists and jams his bat down. He doesn't make it in time, it's a second neat stumping by the keeper, and the third umpire presses the button after a cursory glance at the replay. 134/4 38.1 to D Ramdin, Ramdin goes to sweep that one, it sails high and Vaas catches that one at deep midwicket, running in to cling on. 158/7 44.3 to DBL Powell, and that's it.
