sees Misbah stepping across the stumps and floats it wide of off stump. Looks for that sweep again, and the top edge runs away for four, to the left of short third man
Qalandars vs United, 20th Match at Dubai, Feb 17 2016 - Ball by Ball Commentary
United won by 5 wickets (with 6 balls remaining)
11.50pm And there you have it. Peshawar Zalmi and Quetta Gladiators will play the First Qualifying Final on Friday, and Islamabad United will play Karachi Kings in the Second Qualifying Final on Saturday. Do tune in for those games, and keep sending in your comments. Until then, good night!
Misbah-ul-Haq: "Now, for the first time, we have won a couple of games together, and that's a really good sign going into the knockout stage. It has given us some belief. I was really feeling difficult to run, because of my calf strain. We still had some batsmen left in the dugout, so I was pretty sure [we could pull it off]. I got the start, and I just cashed in. The top order really played well, Haddin played well. And the way we started with the ball. Irfan was special, and Rumman Raees bowled a good spell. The first thing in [knock-out] matches is to go out and believe in yourself, have self-belief. Putting yourself under pressure is not going to help you."
Azhar Ali: "It's disappointing we couldn't go through to the playoffs. We tried our best. We are here because of our own mistakes. Winning the toss is not in our control, but we didn't field well in the tournament, dropped a few catches, and as a result we lost a few matches. For every team, it's the first event, and a learning thing for us, and hopefully we will learn from this. We played two or three very close games, we could have got over the line. Yesterday's game also, but that's how it is - you don't win, you don't win."
Mohammad Irfan is the man of the match. "I had some difficulties in the first few matches. I discussed it with Wasim [Akram] bhai, and he told me to stick to my natural length. Right now, I'm 100 per cent fit, and I hope to keep performing in the matches to come."
Hamza M.: "The reason Lahore's bowling was so weak was because they didn't get any replacements for Yasir Shah and Mustafizur."
Waseem Sarwar: "What was the purpose of playing Cooper if you weren't going to bowl him?"
Shahid Bawany: "Why was Adnan Rasool in the team if he didn't bowl a single ball?"
11.30pm A couple of run-outs in the middle to offer the illusion of hope to Lahore, but Islamabad United have won this easily in the end. Misbah came out with a clear mind and struck the ball quite beautifully towards the end. Good knocks from Haddin and Latif too. Lahore Qalandars will end this inaugural season at the bottom of the PSL table. Their bowling simply lacked teeth, and they seemed especially short of options today with Mendis having quite an off day. Karachi Kings sneak through into the playoffs.
on the pads now, worked away to the left of short fine leg
floated up wide of off stump and that is flat-batted with a vengeance, not too far to the right of sweeper cover, but hit so hard he had no chance
full and wide outside off, slog-swept to deep midwicket
full on middle and leg, chipped in the air, on the bounce to long-off
short, wide, slapped, and that races away into the gap between short third man and backward point
Mendis.
slower ball outside off, driven to long-off
slower ball, full and close to off stump. Azhar looks to dab it towards point and gets a thin edge that drops short of the keeper
full on leg stump, clipped away to the left of deep square leg
full-toss on the pads and that is a poor ball with fine leg in the circle. Misbah swivels at the hips and whips it away to the right of that fielder
shortish on off stump but not quite short enough to pull. Miscued it high in the air, and Zia, the man at deep square leg, is on his heels and late to come in off the rope. Maybe he was expecting someone else to be calling for that catch. The ball lands a few feet in front of him and to his right
full on off stump, driven back firmly, hits the stumps at the other end. Bravo reached out, didn't get his fingertips to it. Otherwise, the non-striker was well out of his crease
Who will bowl these last three overs? Adil and Zia have bowled out. Bravo will bowl this one.
Usman : "Two 40+ dudes going at it! Love it!"
fullish on off stump, clipped to long-on
on the pads now, clipped away to the left of deep square leg
full on off stump, another dot ball, driven straight to short extra cover
Two dot balls and a wicket so far.
length ball outside off, leans across to dab to backward point
Azhar Mahmood is in at No. 7.
low full-toss on middle and leg, and Asif shuffles across and misses the flick. Hits low on the front pad, and that looked plumb at first glance. Hit in line with middle and leg, and would have clipped the edge of leg stump according to ball tracking
full outside off, jabbed to extra cover
full-toss outside off, swiped away to long-on
slower ball outside off, dabbed gently into the cover point region
