And here's the moment they've waited for over the last four weeks. Shadab Khan joins his teammates and collects the glittery Orion PSL trophy. Everybody is having their moment with the trophy. Smiles and hugs all around. It's been another action-packed season that served us one thriller after another. A rollercoaster of a season for Islamabad United that ends on a triumphant note for them. They deserved it thoroughly after winning close games in the playoffs. We enjoyed your company throughout this entertaining season and thank you for your feedback!

That concludes our coverage of the Pakistan Super League 2024 final! On behalf of the entire team at ESPNcricinfo, I'm Rvel Zahid, waving goodbye for one last time this season. Take care and goodnight.

Shadab Khan, Islamabad United Captain: I was a batsman at the start (of my career), wanted to utilize my abilities as a batter by batting up the order, it helps team more if I bat at fourth or fifth. I was struggling (about his bowling), I have tried to fix the technical issues and I'm hopeful there will be further improvement in my bowling. When I perform as a bowler, it benefits the team a lot. It's really tough for me to watch match; it's easier on the ground but I am under pressure in the dressing room and I keep people sitting next to me under pressure too. The sign of a best team is that they win even without playing a perfect game. I would like to thank the owners for backing me and how they supported me throughout my journey. There was a lot of hard work and belief behind winning this trophy so this trophy means a lot to us.

Mohammad Rizwan, Multan Sultans Captain: If the match goes to last ball, you can't really point out any flaw. Credit to Imad for picking a fifer and scoring those crucial runs. There were a few ups and down in batting, Faisal Akram has a bright future, Abbas Afridi was superb. When you have momentum then you want to just keep playing but the gap breaks the momentum, it isn't an excuse but we can say they played really well. I'm not quite satisfied with my batting, I'm always available for Pakistan to bat any position.. Congratulations to Islamabad and it was fun to play tonight in front of a packed house.

Uzair Hashmi: "Retirements aside, Amir and Imad are an absolute necessity for this Pakistam Cricket team! Would love to see Amir's experience with Shaheen's burst and Naseem's pace! "

Nouman: "And PSL9 commentator of the tournament awards goes to Rvel.. Oo man, you are one man army. We love u". And I love you all, thank you for your company throughout the season

Saim Ayub wins the super all-rounder of the tournament award

Imad Wasim, Player of the Match: (picked 5/23 and played a crucial knock): I wasn't feeling it will be my best event tournament but wanted to make an impact but glad it went so well for me. I've done it on quite a few occasion in batting but to pick fifer in a final and to stay in during a crucial game, it was a new experience but I have learned from it that we should have finished the game earlier rather than taking it down the wire, glad Hunain finished it. I think I'm happy playing cricket, I'm fit and trying to contribute as much as possible/ I've four-five years of cricket left in me.

Usman Khan wins the batter of the tournament award

Usama Mir wins the bowler of the tournament award

Babar Azam wins the Hanif Muhammad Cap

Usama Mir wins the Fazal Mahmood cap, picked 24 wickets in 12 games.

PCB moment of the match trophy goes to Hunain Shah

1:42am: Stick around for presentation and send us your thoughts about the PSL season 9!

Naseem Shah: I can't even breathe properly but what a great match we had. This is the beauty of cricket, it was the final and went to the last ball. I need some time to gather my thoughts, can't really make of what just transpired. I practice a lot for my batting in the nets. Just talked about keeping believe in ourselves when I was batting with Imad.

Omer: "Imad has to be coaxed out of retirement!"

Hamza: "@AamirHanif - I'm sure calling it 5th lastball finish this PSL is not even close to the actual number of matches that went down to the last ball"

Attiya: "No doubt imad played brilliantly. But, he cannot blame anyone for not being in playing 11 , marginally due to his own behavior and as he was always like to like replacement of nawaz (stats show this). Now, when he is form, should play few bilateral to make way for WC. (And he stay away from irrelevant talk shows)"

Nabeel: "Shaheen needs to get on the phone with Imad and get him out of retirement immediately. We need someone who remain calm under pressure like Imad. "

Uzair Hashmi: "What a crunch player Imad Wasim is! Man for the big occasion! Too bad internal politics and some of his antics kept him away from reaching his full potential, however, today and in semi's..Outstanding!!!"

Shah Zaib: "Got to mention the philosophy Islamabad has used to build their team. It's based on The Movie "Moneyball", Every player gets on base and here they are with yet another PSL title, Kudos to them for using the data that well."

Mustafa Moudi : "Islamabad were always destined to Win this with this season ending on 319 (March 19th) as it signifies that IU has 3 Trophies while MS has 1 in 9 season. Just that we didnt understand it !!"

Gino JPM Mathia: "Great final. Congrats to IU for a fantastic win. You deserve to be the champions. Because you believe in yourself. Cheers from India "

Faisal Jaan: "What is wrong with PSL finales? Every time, PSL lights up stadiums with epic finales. As far as I remember, this is perhaps the 4th or 5th last-ball thriller. "

Hassan khan: "Not using David Willey cost Multan. Bad choice of bowling at the death."

Aamir Hanif: "What a tournament! 5th match of this PSL 9 decided to last ball. Ammmmmaaaaaizzzzing"

Infernos: "3 consecutive years, 3 consecutive finals, 3 consecutive last ball heartbreaks, gotta feel for cap rizwan "

Azam Khan: I am over the moon, I'm so happy. I got only one match for Quetta in 2019 and I got so much support from Islamabad, really happy about it. Momentum kept shifting but I knew if I stay in the middle, momentum would shift to our side, couldn't finish the game which is disappointing for me but we are the champions of PSL so quite happy. I've really enjoyed playing alongside Shadab, our goal was always towards championship. I don't know which song to sing right now, I'm feeling confused.

Tymal Mills: How we played last week, 10 days, we have shown character, It's brilliant to do so in the final, you can see how much it means to players, especially to the local players. Hunain had a top tournament, young guy, very inexperienced but hopefully that moment will stay for him for a long time. It's been great to see a young guy finish it off.

Martin Guptill: Great final for the fans who enjoyed it here. It was tough going on early on but once we got the momentum, it became easier. We were just one decent partnership away from taking the game away.

Hunain Shah: I had the belief when I was sitting out in the dugout that I would keep calm when I go out to bat, the plan was to just nudge the ball and run to the other end. Imad was telling me to remain calm and just put bat on ball. I don't have words to describe my feelings. I'm so happy

Adrenaline was pumping but it was Islamabad United who held their nerve at the crucial juncture and have won a thriller. Wow, the emotion, the pride, it means the world to the United players. Congratulations to Islamabad United and commiserations to Multan Sultans who end up on the losing side after an exhilarating contest.

Jumping all over Hunain, who showed steely nerves and calmly guided the slow ball behind square on off. Hunain and Imad are mobbed by their teammates. Mohammad Ali is down on the ground, holding his hand on his head. He had a fabulous tournament; can't fault his effort, but someone has to lose and someone has to win. It will sting for a week maybe. Both teams produced a PSL classic for the ages! Once again, Imad, the super-cool Imad, played a composed knock. It's going to be such a big miss for Pakistan to not have him in the squad. He can bring a storm to calm, genetically hardwired for high-pressure games

ISLAMABAD UNITED ARE PSL 2024 CHAMPIONS! Takes a leaf out of Naseem Shah's book and dabs it elegantly between the gap at backward point and short third, hits the winning runs and the entire Islamabad United squad runs to invade the pitch. Contrasting emotions, Tears of joy and tears of pain in one frame. WHAT A GAME OF CRICKET!

Mohammad Ali to Naseem Shah, OUT

Crazy scenes out there! Oh my word! What is happening out there? He bowls a snorter of a bouncer on middle, Naseem goes for the pull looking a bit ungainly and tickles it to Rizwan, umpire raises his finger without any hesitation. Yes, there is a thick deflection on the ultra-edge. We'll have to wait more to find out who's the champion. Props to Mohammad Ali for fighting tooth and nail and refusing to give in. Intelligent bowling. Super over blaring between my ears. Anything can happen!

Mohammad Ali to Imad Wasim, 1 run

Round the wicket, back of a length, roaring back from outside off, bunted to short cover, hustles and bustles to pinch a run, Ali pings a throw at non-striker's end, Imad makes it just in the nick of time. Crrucial run! Scores are level!

Hard length, slanting in at middle, clipped calmly to short midwicket and brings the danger man on crease, that's what Imad wanted, just a hit away from their another title!

Mohammad Ali to Naseem Shah, FOUR runs

Misses the yorker by a fraction and that is enough for Naseem to find a boundary, flicks it with zen-like calm through the gap at midwicket, excellent timing but the key here is waiting for the ball till the last second so he can place it into the gap. Oh, no,no,no, no, Mohammad Ali, what have you done? Looks like it's a no-ball, very close call for third umpire. Okay, so emotions getting better of me as well, well he got something behind the line, not a no-ball, saved by the barest of margins, should thank third umpire if he gets Multan over the line. We have a delay, Imad is having a chat with Ahsan Raza

Rajaram: "I am still on super over here..who wanna bet? bitcoins accepted "

DAB: "Wanted to take this moment as the PSL is coming to close...you have been amazing Rvel! Really enjoyed watching the games with you! More power to you bro!" <3

Rajaram: "Naseem must be seeing afghani bowlers in the nets! ..reminisces asia cup exploits.."

Ansar : "Let me give a controversial opinion. In a final game, you expect players to perform the best. Barring imad and few others, rest had mediocre game like Mir is not looking a bowler who took 21 odd wickets while Shadab, Azam, Haider, Faheem did what they usually do.

Mohammad Ehtesh: "Wifey is from Islamabad - cannot afford to see them win especially after LQ's win. Lot on the line for me personally. Pls pray guys."
