Mandeep, Kohli tons put Punjab in command

A round-up of all the games played in Group A on the second day of the 2013-14 Ranji Trophy season

Punjab 306 for 2 (Mandeep 116*, Kohli 109*) lead Odisha 205 (Podder 42, Harbhajan 6-54) by 101 runs
Scorecard
Centuries from Mandeep Singh and Taruwar Kohli put Punjab in the driver's seat with a hefty 220-run stand for the third wicket on the second day against Odisha. Continuing from their overnight score of 11 for 0, Punjab lost Jiwanjot Singh for 18 in the 17th over.
Ravi Inder Singh and Kohli also put on 43, like the opening partnership, before Ravi Inder fell for 50. Kohli was joined by Mandeep and the duo did not let any more wickets fall as they notched their third and sixth first-class hundreds, respectively. While Kohli struck 15 fours and a six, Mandeep struck one four less but his strike rate, 76.31, was much higher than Kohli's.
Odisha used as many as eight bowlers but only two of them could add to the wicket column.
Punjab had also started the last season strongly, winning three of their first four matches, against Hyderabad, Bengal and Saurashtra, and drawing the fourth with Railways.
Vidarbha 85 and 87 for 1 (Fazal 48*, Ubarhande 6*) trail Gujarat 304 (Smit 73, Parthiv 65, Wagh 4-71) by 132 runs
Scorecard
Gujarat could not build on their overnight score of 153 for 3 as much as they would have liked as a middle-order collapse triggered by Shrikant Wagh kept them to 304.
Parthiv Patel and Mehul Patel started the second day but Mehul scored only 1 when he fell in the seventh over of the day, which started the collapse as Gujarat lost another four wickets for the next 31 runs. Parthiv struck 10 fours during his 65, his 42nd first-class fifty.
A 65-run stand for the ninth wicket took them towards a respectable 300 as Rakesh Dhurv scored an 83-ball 22 and Rush Kalaria added 39 from 120. An unbeaten 14 from debutant Jasprit Bumrah took them past the 300-mark and gave them a lead of 219. Sumit Ruikar took one wicket on the second day to finish with 3 for 49. Umesh Yadav bowled 30 overs but picked up only one wicket.
Vidarbha batted again and put together 87 - two more than their first-innings score - for the loss of one wicket and trail by 132. Faiz Fazal was unbeaten on 48.
Haryana 134 and 224 for 9 (Sunny 63, Jayant 45, Dabholkar 4 for 54, Zaheer 4 for 59) lead Mumbai 136 (Rahane 51, Joginder 5 for 16)
Scorecard
Despite a series of shifts in momentum, the teams were fairly evenly placed after two days, setting the scene for a challenging Mumbai chase - including, fans will hope, a famous Tendulkar effort - on Tuesday.

No play was possible in the clash between Jharkhand and Delhi for the second day in a row due to overnight rain.
