Collins, Best rattle Leewards

On the same surface that Barbados managed a huge 507 at more than five runs an over, Leeward Islands found the going tough in Philipsburg with Pedro Collins on song. Collins picked up a five-for as Leewards were bowled out for 204. Barbados chose to enforce the follow-on and in the 18 overs before close, the Leewards batsmen put up a much better show to end the day on 66 for 1. It was the movement, accuracy and guile of both seamers, Collins and Tino Best (3 for 19), that undermined a brittle batting line-up that offered virtually nothing outside the third-wicket partnership of 165 between Runako Morton (82) and Tonito Willett (70), after both openers departed for ducks. Had it not been for Morton and Willett, it would have been a complete embarrassment for Leewards, with the remaining nine batsmen managing only 39 runs. Austin Richards once again disappointed, falling for 14 in the second essay, but Kieran Powell and captain Runako Morton took them through safely to stumps.

Bravo's patient 105 put Trinidad & Tobago on course for first-innings points against Windward Islands in Trinidad. Resuming on 189 for 4, Bravo continued strongly from his unbeaten 42 overnight and brought up his century, facing 221 balls during his 310-minute stay. Debutant Atiba Allert then put T&T in full control, picking up 4 for 44 as Windwards were left struggling at 140 for 9 at the end of play, still needing 21 runs to avoid the follow-on. Bravo held the innings together after Denesh Ramdin fell off the fourth ball of the day, with Dave Mohammed keeping him company till he reached his hundred. The pair put on 52 for the eighth wicket to take T&T to 310. Sherwin Ganga provided the breakthrough with his first ball, getting Devon Smith caught by Daren Ganga for 17 with the score on 33, and followed it up with the wicket of Andre Fletcher. From then on it was Allert who got the crowd going. He was on a hat-trick after removing Liam Sebastien and Kevin James for ducks, but Sammy was able to fend him off. Allert added two more wickets in quick succession, accounting for Miles Bascombe and Sammy, but the visitors recovered through a 52-run stand between skipper Rawl Lewis and Lyndon James, which lasted till the score was 113.

Rain and a soaked outfield slowed Jamaica down on the second day after the left-arm spinner Nikita Miller had handed the advantage back to the defending champions and current table-toppers against the Combined Campuses & Colleges (CCC) in Barbados. His career-best of 8 for 41 was crucial in giving Jamiaca the first-innings lead after they were shot out for a disappointing 161 the previous day. However, the story was similar to the first day for CCC, who were precariously placed on 59 for 5. None of the batsmen managed to put up a fight and only three ended up with double figures. Miller made short work of the lower order, adding four more wickets to his overnight 4 for 14 and CCC folded for 106. Xavier Marshall was bowled by Kevin McLean during Jamaica's second innings but Brenton Parchment and Donovan Pagon saw them through to 32 for 1, stretching the lead to 87.
