5.4 to HE van der Dussen, much fuller on offstump as van der Dussen tries to flick it - but he gets a leading edge and is caught at short third. 45/2
4 | 0 | 55 | 1 | 13.75 | 5 | 6 | 3 | 3 | 0 | |
18.2 to T Stubbs, top edge, and a very good catch by Tucker! Tucker keeps his eyes on the ball all along, as he takes gradual steps to end even beyond short fine leg, and then tumbles to take that into his gloves. A slower-ball short delivery from Little, as he bowls on off stump, and Stubbs goes for the pull. But he is foxed by the lack of pace, and the ball balloons off his bat. 185/5

15.4 to AK Markram, taken at wide-ish deep square leg! Ireland will heave a sigh of relief. Markram made room again, and yet again tried to skip down the pitch. Delany bowled it short outside leg, and cramped him for room. Markram had no option but to swat that pull across, and found the man stationed at what was a short boundary. 157/3 15.5 to RR Hendricks, Delany on a hat-trick! Good catch by Stirling diving forward at point. Delany bowled short again, but this was outside off. Hendricks went deep in the crease to slash that, but got that off the higher side of the bat to point. The ball flew off his bat, and went right where Stirling was sitting. Ireland applying the brakes when nothing seemed impossible for South Africa. 157/4

7.1 to HT Tector, Angled in on leg, Tector tries to hit it over cover but finds Pretorious there! Pressure back on Ireland here with this wicket?. 72/3 9.2 to C Campher, straight through him! ball wasn't short enough to cut and he is clean bowled. 84/5

18.2 to MR Adair, got him! Ngidi repeats his slower delivery, but this time bowls on a fuller length and just outside off. The ball shapes in a touch after pitching, and strikes the middle stump after Adair is through his across-the-line slog early. No other way out there, really. 175/8

2.4 to A Balbirnie, Good length ball, Balbirnie top-edges the ball while trying to hit it towards midwicket.. but Pretorious takes it at mid-on. 22/1 4.3 to PR Stirling, Angled in on middle and given! Stirling decides to review. All okay on UltraEdge.. and three reds on ball tracking! Parnell finally gets his man.. 43/2

17.1 to GH Dockrell, woah, Markram runs and dives forward from long-off! Little option other than to attack, and though Dockrell gets a full toss outside off, he can only manage to mistime that off the bottom half of the bat to long-off, where South Africa's best fielder does the job of almost putting a seal on the match. 170/7

8.5 to GJ Delany, Full ball on middle and Delany tries to sweep and misses it.. and he is hit on the pads. Given out rightaway!. 83/4 16.6 to LJ Tucker, is this the game for South Africa? Massive strike in the context of the game. Tucker departs after giving Ireland hope, as went for the slog sweep to this much fuller - and loopy - delivery on off. He was down on his knees to crash that, but got a top edge perhaps beaten by the slowness of the ball. De Kock took a few steps back, turned around, and gobbled that on the second attempt walking towards short fine leg. 170/6 |
