5.13pm Somehow, that game got very very close. But the Supernovas have just enough in the end to huff and puff to their target. Not the greatest game of cricket, but like most T20s, this match also got very tight. Bates almost defended 3 in the final over, but the Supernovas got through off the final delivery.

It was, in any case, a great event for women's cricket. Some of the best cricketers in the world in one place, for two teams always promises great cricket. Even though, the quality wasn't quite at its best, the competition and spirit was.

Suzie Bates is the Player of the Match: "We were short with the bat, struggled through that middle order. Nice to keep the game close in the end. I was more of a bowling allrounder today."

Smriti Mandhana: "Our girls did brilliantly to take it to the last ball. You always feel like you;re 10 short. Wicket was really slow, 145-150 would have been a good score to defend. In T20s, you can defend any thing and any score can get chased. I told her I'm not playing Playstation with you because she (Harmanpreet) took that catch."

Harmanpreet Kaur: "To try to take it ball by ball. We have focused on our fielding, improving day by day. They used their bowling well."

El Perry: "It was amazing, an incredible experience. Nice that it was competitive and was close. It's so awesome for the health of the game. The IPL for women is the missing piece of the puzzle. To come down and play this game is a highlight of my career."

Bates to Vastrakar, 1 run

97 kph. Dropped? Doesn't matter, the ball goes through for one. Full and straight, skewed away past midwicket for one. Did that fielder get close to it? Nonetheless, the Supernovas beat Smriti Mandhana's Trailblazers in a super-tight game.

1 off 1. Everyone has to come in? There's one deep midwicket for the hoick. A short midwicket also.

Shahed: "Super over anyone? We didn't have any in IPL this season."

100 kph, low full toss outside off is hit to cover.

2 off 2 now. I'd be happy to give her one.

Nerves, nerves

3 off 3

19.3
Bates to Vastrakar, no run

94 kph, a yorker is jammed back to the bowler. Another DOT BALL. Nervous smiles all around.

3 off 4. You'd want seven, maybe eight in the circle for this. Just five in the circle.

Bates to Perry, 1 run

she does. Full outside off, drilled down to long-off for one

Will Perry take the single? Five inside the circle.

Now 4 off 5

19.1
Bates to Perry, no run

DOT BALL! Short and wide, Perry misses a dab

4 off 6, Perry on strike. One boundary away. You'd want to give her one. Bates will bowl.

Bisht to Perry, OUT

that's very lazy running from Meshram! Is she gone? Yep, she is. Full and wide outside off, drilled to short cover. Mandhana misfields, but recovers very quickly, picks up and throws the stumps down at the batsman's end. She plonked her bat back in, didn't slide it and that costs her eventually.

Bisht to Perry, FOUR runs

very neat from Perry. That's the game? Flat and wide outside off, Perry opens the bat face despite being on the back foot and carving the ball through third man for four. Too good
