Bangladesh have claimed the bonus point and they have edged out Zimbabwe and will meet Sri Lanka again in the final on Friday. Shakib finishes unbeaten on 92 off 69 balls and his team-mates must be overawed. He certainly took my breath away with his confidence and audacity. Murali and Mendis were negated and attacked and that proved to be the turning point. It came to a stage when Jayawardene ran out of ideas but any captain would have been helpless in the end. It seemed impossible to set fields for Shakib, who regularly made room and improvised.
Mashfiq, our reader from India: "Wish I were there in the ground now to witness this innings. I guess, it's one of the best ODI innings that any Bangladeshi batsmen has ever played."
Golam, from Bangladesh: "Cheers to Shakib Al Hasan. He is the only consistent player in Bangladesh team. We expect good success for him."
Stay with us for the presentation.
Here's Jayawardene: "It was a bit difficult batting first, but there was no excuse for falling 25-30 short, but obviously credit to Shakib. The batsmen didn't take any responsibility, I don't think we can blame the bowlers much."
Ashraful: "We played professional cricket, all the guys bowled well and we fielded well. Shakib played a brilliant innings and I supported him. I hope we play well in the final."
Shakib: "Best innings in my career so far, I was middling it well. The plans worked well. I didn't target anyone and played each ball to its merits. I'd like to thank the crowd."
So Bangladesh record their second win over Sri Lanka in ODIs. The first was at Bogra in 2006. Thanks for your company, especially through the agonising three and a half hours in the morning when fog delayed play.
We'll see you in the final on Friday. Let's hope the weather cooperates. Cheers!
