Booted out

Tom Graveney: We were fighting hard to save the match. They had added an extra day to the final Test because we were in the lead 1-0. We were struggling on that final day, and when I went in, Lance Gibbs was bowling. The third ball I faced was a full-length one down the leg side. I flicked it off my pads, right off the middle of the bat, and low. Garry Sobers was at backward short leg. He sensed that I was going to flick it and stood up straight, backing away. The ball hit the steel cap on his boot and went straight to Deryck Murray behind the wicket! That made us 40-odd for 3, but we managed to hold them at bay for the rest of the day, drew the Test with one wicket in hand and won the series 1-0. Photograph by Getty Images
