Tired Bowler Misses US$1 Million

St

St. John's ' While he loves the idea of the Bowling For Dollars Challenge, Errol Dennis has one suggestion to the organisers after missing out on the US$1 million grand prize here yesterday.
The 33-year-old Jamaican feels the third, final and most critical stage of the main event should not be held at the same time as the first two qualifying stages.
By the time he was needed for the most difficult task of hitting one stump with three successive attempts, he had already delivered 20 balls in the space of a few minutes.
'I was tired. I wasn't 100 per cent and I never got my rhythm,' Dennis said about the final stage in which he failed to strike the target.
'The last stage was difficult and I would have preferred to come back at tea time,' added the refrigeration technician, who lives in Kingston.
For his efforts during the lunch break of the second day of the second Test between West Indies and Pakistan, Dennis walked away with US$4 000.
Half of the money was earned in Stage 1 when he hit the stumps four times out of 12 attempts. Each accurate ball was worth US$500.
The other half was won in Stage 2 in which he was required to hit two stumps with eight deliveries.
He was successful on two occasions, each hit gaining him US$1 000.
