Anti-Corruption Investigators head for India

The head of the ICC Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU) and the Australian Cricket Board's (ACB) special investigator are flying to India this weekend, to follow up allegations made in the Indian CBI report into cricket malpractice

The head of the ICC Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU) and the Australian Cricket Board's (ACB) special investigator are flying to India this weekend, to follow up allegations made in the Indian CBI report into cricket malpractice.
The announcement was made at the conclusion of a meeting today in London (5.12.00) between Sir Paul Condon of the ACU and Greg Melick of the ACB.
"Today's talks were a private exchange of information and an update of current status concerning ongoing investigations into the CBI report. As a result of this both Greg Melick and myself are going to India to seek further information relating to the allegations that have been made against overseas cricketers. The visit is being made with the full knowledge and assistance of the Indian authorities," commented Sir Paul Condon.
Greg Melick said:" I have reached the stage in my enquiries where it is appropriate and necessary to speak face to face with the individuals and organisations directly involved in the compilation of the CBI report. I am working closely and co-operatively with the ICC Anti-Corruption Unit on this matter."
The investigators will fly to Chennai on Saturday evening (9.12.00) for two days of talks with officials from the Board of Control for Cricket in India. On Monday (11.12.00) they will move on to Delhi where the itinerary will include meetings with senior officials of the Indian Government, the head of the CBI and the chief officer of the New Delhi Police.
A de-brief will be arranged in London following Sir Paul Condon's return to the UK. The preliminary date for this is Friday 15th December. No announcement will be made at this briefing relating to individual players named in the CBI report.
