At Chittagong, October 14, 2008. New Zealand won by 79 runs. Toss: New Zealand. One-day international debut: Imrul Kayes.
After the slow, low pitch of Mirpur, no one relished the firmer, bouncier Chittagong wicket more than Taylor, who hit his third one-day international century. After the openers went cheaply, he added 125 with the enterprising How. Even so, New Zealand's 249 seemed like a good omen as Bangladesh pursued a series win - that was the total they overhauled in their most famous victory, against Australia at Cardiff in 2005. Then, Mohammad Ashraful scored a dazzling hundred; here, he messed up horribly, trying an audacious scoop only to be bowled by a straight delivery from Oram. From 49 for one, Bangladesh slid to 59 for five. Naeem Islam made a dogged 46 off 106 balls, perhaps trying to show he was ready for his Test debut.
Man of the Match: L. R. P. L. Taylor. Man of the Series: J. D. P. Oram.
