I've just received the official reworded amendment slip
concerning Law 42.9.
The old law is replaced; now a bowler will be no-balled,
cautioned etc., regardless of intent, if he bowls a beamer. The
original amendment was ambiguously worded, and the new version
defines the beamer as,
".. a ball that passes, or would have passed, on the full above
waist height of a Batsman standing upright at the crease."
Also of interest is that EITHER umpire may call no-ball in this
case. (Only other example I can think of is that either umpire
may call no-ball for throwing).
