Bermuda's preparations for the World Cup continue to be dogged by controversy.
Last week, George O'Brien was dumped from the squad with officials citing "poor effort" as the reason. Although O'Brien is one of the most naturally gifted bowlers on the island, he was given the chop by the BCB because of concerns about his attitude and commitment.
Now batsman Lionel Cann has been accused of fraudulently claiming compensation for time spent away from work after it emerged that he had been absent from his job for "several months".
"Matters relating to player's contracts and payments to players are internal to the BCB and are between the BCB and its players," a statement from the Bermuda Cricket Board explained.
The board's pay structure itself is also under the spotlight as the players are threatening a strike after refusing to accept the BCB's latest contract proposals.
All in all, at a time Bermuda cricket should be buoyant and looking ahead, it is preoccupied with problems all of its own.
