The Scottish seam bowler, John Blain, has moved from Northamptonshire to Yorkshire on a one-year contract. Blain, who was at Northants for seven years, represented Scotland in the recent ICC Six Nations Challenge and has been signed to bolster the one-day side following the departures of Ryan Sidebottom, Darren Gough and Gavin Hamilton.
"It is daunting to follow in the footsteps of the likes of Darren Gough but I'm relishing the opportunity," Blain told BBC Radio. "I've been at Northampton for seven years and I have played international cricket so I'd like to think I can offer a little bit of experience.
Yorkshire welcomed his arrival with a brief statement: "John's undoubted experience at international and county level will no doubt strengthen the squad immensely." Blain, 25, made his Scotland ODI debut during the 1999 World Cup, and picked up 10 wickets at 21.00 in five matches.
