The Lee brothers Shane and Brett will join NSW Blues team-mates Steve and Mark Waugh in the Australian squad named for the opening matches of the triangular Carlton & United Series beginning on January 9.
Southern Redbacks batsman Darren Lehmann, who was also overlooked for the Australia A side which played Pakistan in two warm-up matches, is the surprise omission from the 13-man squad, while dashing Test opener Michael Slater has also been unable to force his way back into the one-day arena.
Lehmann, a member of Australia's victorious World Cup squad and the one-day sides that travelled to Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe in October and November, has been overlooked for the opening matches which kick-off on Sunday with a sold-out day-nighter between Australia and Pakistan at the refurbished Gabba in Brisbane.
Along with Shane Lee, one-day specialists Adam Dale, Michael Bevan, Damien Martyn and Andrew Symonds were recalled at the expense of SCG Test players Greg Blewett, Justin Langer, Michael Kasprowicz and Colin Miller.
Squad: Steve Waugh (captain), Shane Warne (vice-captain), Michael Bevan, Adam Dale, Damien Fleming, Adam Gilchrist, Brett Lee, Shane Lee, Damien Martyn, Glenn McGrath, Ricky Ponting, Andrew Symonds, Mark Waugh.
