Ian Chappell consolidated his lead on day 16 of the IPL thanks to his trump in the second game of another Sunday double-header. His pick, Sanath Jayasuriya, gave Chappell a handy 128 points to move further away from Sambit Bal.
Ian now stands at 4886 points, helped further by having Abhishek Nayar in his team. Bal's trump for the second game was Sachin Tendulkar but that didn't prove a wise move, as he only managed two points. Yuvraj Singh also didn't fire as trump in the earlier game; he only managed 18 points. From a slender lead of 124 yesterday, Bal now trails Chappell by 236 points.
Sanjay Manjrekar also had Tendulkar as trump so that failure didn't allow him to extend his chances of gaining on David Lloyd, who smartly picked Jayasuriya to rake in the points. Manjrekar had brought himself to within 70 points of Lloyd but has slipped back by 139.
