Japan captain Ema Kuribayashi won the toss and elected to field and she would have been been delighted when Neisha Pratt was trapped LBW for 24 by opening bowler Kurumi Ota. A middle order partnership by Keenu Gill (26) and Charlotte Chan (30) helped lift Hong Kong to an eventual total of 154 all out from 48.2 overs. For Japan Ema Kuribayashi was again the best bowler with 3-8 from 8.2 overs while Atsuko Suda grabbed 3-11 from 5 overs - a far cry from the 0-71 pummeling she took in the first match.
Japan's reply never got into gear as they crawled their way to 105 all out in 46.1 overs. Ayako Nakayama was the only batter to exert any dominance as she top scored with 26, just behind Extras which contributed 28. Chief destroyer for Hong Kong was Charlotte Chan who grabbed 5-23 from her ten over spell, including three maidens. Godiva Li and Betty Chan also picked up two wickets each while Neisha Pratt held four catches.
The final match in the three match series will be held at Mission Road on Sunday, 12th October 2008.
