Bethel proved to the rest of the other schools in the North that they will be a team to beat in the New World Under 15 cricket competition which started in Labasa today by scoring above 100 runs and losing only 4 wickets in their first match against Gurunanak. Gurunanak won the toss and send in Bethel to bat not knowing what Bethel have in store for them. They completed 25 overs and losing only 4 wickets scoring 100 runs in the process. Bating for Bethel; Salabogi Tuitoga scored 42 runs while their captain Enoch Olinga scored 33 runs followed by Amina Rokosikau on 20 runs. Bowling for Gurunanak; Jovesa Nawaqa took 1 wicket for 24 runs while his team mate Masau Kaliova also took 1 wicket for 26 runs. In reply, Gurunanak were all out for 67 runs. Batting for Gurunanak; Jovesa and Sulu both scored 27 runs each and the only ones that managed to score double figures. Bowling for Bethel; Emori Rakaboa a left handed bowler took 5 wickets for a mere 18 runs in his 5 overs and also took the best bowler of the competition award, followed by Nacanieli Salabogi who took 3 wickets for 23 runs. Bethel beat Gurunanak by 33 runs.
In another game Boubale escaped what could have been a very close defeat to Labasa Primary in their last wicket defence. Boubale won the toss and send in Labasa primary to bat and Labasa primary scored 68 runs in 24.3 overs all out and batting for Labasa Primary; Harry Morris scored 20 runs while their captain Herbert Krishtopher scored 18 runs. Bowling for Boubale; Adriu Tuilagi and Bese Kidacala both took 5 wickets each with Adriu giving away only 20 runs while Kida gave away 33 runs. In reply Boubale struggled to score 69 runs in the 25th over with 3 balls remaining, wining only by 1 wicket. Batting for Boubale; Veresa Koliloa who was also their last batsman top scored with 22 runs he scored a six and two fours in his 22 runs followed by Ami Chand their opening batsman on 19 runs. Bowling for Labasa Primary; Herbert took 4 wickets for 23 runs while Harry took 3 wickets for only 18 runs. The game which seasawed most of the time had everyone standing on their toes and bitting their fingers all the way to the finish, what a very close and interesting game it was. Boubale won by 1 wicket.
In the last game of the day Sangam Primary beat Vuo Bhartiya by 16 runs. Vuo won the toss and send in Sangam Primary to bat first. Sangam managed to score 51 runs and batting for Sangam Jovilisi scored 18 runs while Shavneel Deo scored 17 runs. Bowling for Vuo Bhartiya; Deepak too 4 wickets for 22 runs while Mateo took 3 wickets for 19 runs. In reply Vuo Bhartiya were all out for 37 runs and batting for Vuo; Moritiki top scored with 17 runs while Jashneet Kumar scored 16 runs. Bowling for Sangam; Sharneel and Shivneel both took 3 wickets each with Sharneel giving away 19 runs while Shivneel gave away 23 runs. Sangam won by 16 runs.
