Cricket live into Melbourne today

The Australian Cricket Board today announced that it had this morning agreed to a full live telecast into Melbourne of the history making first ever indoor One-Day International match at Colonial Stadium

The Australian Cricket Board today announced that it had this morning agreed to a full live telecast into Melbourne of the history making first ever indoor One-Day International match at Colonial Stadium.
ACB Chairman, Denis Rogers, said that the decision was taken after considering a number of factors.
"A number of issues played a part in the ACB making this decision. These include:
  • That the match will become part of cricket history;
  • That many community and disadvantaged groups are unable to get to the stadium and want to see the match;
  • The strong support for the series from the Melbourne public; and
  • The willingness of Channel 9 to broadcast into Melbourne live," said Mr Rogers.
"This match is clearly unique and the Australian Cricket Board's view is that while it is likely to reduce the overall number of people who attend the game it is in cricket's best interests to allow this match to be telecast live into Melbourne," said Mr Rogers.
He went on to stress that this decision was a one-off and that the ACB's existing policy would continue to apply to all future games in Melbourne, including the remaining games of this series on Friday night and Sunday.
"This decision is a one-off due to the exceptional circumstances surrounding this match".
"The ACB's overall policy remains unchanged. In all other cases, Australian cricket's best interests are served by only allowing a live telecast of games in Melbourne of those matches which are sold out," said Mr Rogers.
