Anyone who followed the advice to buy Tillakaratne Dilshan's series runs at 175 could now get out with a 10-point profit after the batsman's excellent second-innings performance at Lord's.
The right-hander showed great maturity to recover from his comical run-out in the first innings with a superb 69 in the second innings and is now trading at 185-195 with Sporting Index.
I suggested before the first Test that Sporting's quote for Sri Lanka on the Tails of the Unexpected market - awarding one point per run scored by numbers 8-11 across the three Tests - might be a bit low at 155-170.
But even I did not anticipate the kind of backs-to-the-wall effort they would produce at Lord's, where they racked up 207 in the one match. Buyers will now be counting their money as they are already in guaranteed profit and can either let it ride or close out now at 340, for a profit of 170 points.
England, because they looked set to be in command, looked about right at 155-170, but after amassing just 11 runs in the first Test, the quote has been slashed to 110-120.
