Dodda Ganesh made the early strikes and Sunil Joshi wrapped up the
tail as Karnataka made short work of Andhra, winning by eight wickets
in their KS Subbaiah Pillai Trophy match at Kakinada on Friday.
Winning the toss, Andhra were given a reasonable start with openers LN
Prasada Reddy (11) and Amit Pathak (14) putting on 31 runs in eight
overs. But then Ganesh dismissed Pathak and Srihari Rao (0) in the
same over and the slide started. Astonishingly Pathak's score remained
the highest of the innings as Andhra were all out for 82 in 29.5
overs. Ganesh finished with four for 23 off eight overs while Joshi,
who took the wickets of Shahabuddin, Hemal Watekar and VJT Ram Mohan
in successive overs, finished with three for 15 from 7.5 overs.
B.Akhil chipped in with two for 11 off seven overs.
Karnataka, with openers J Arun Kumar (33) and Mithun Beerala (23)
putting on 56 runs off 14.3 overs did not encounter any problems in
reaching their easy target.
