It has been more than a year in the planning, but Hoddesdon is ready to host a match against England women as part of the club's 125th anniversary celebrations.
Caroline Atkins, Isa Guha and Holly Colvin, among others, will play in the 35-over match on Thursday, May 31. Charlotte Edwards, the England captain, will miss the match as she recovers from knee surgery.
"We're a little bit unsure as to what to expect," Hoddesdon's captain Steve Coleman told the Essex Mercury. "But they're an England side so they will be very good. It's a massive day for the club. I've been looking forward to it for a long time."
Entry to the match, which starts at 2.15pm, is free. Kate Hoey, the former sports minister, will be the guest of honour, and will give a short speech before the match.
