Fixture updates

It's been a busy and challenging couple of weeks for the team looking after the fixtures at the HKCA with both the Saturday and Sunday fixtures requiring change due to extra games being added into season.

That said, we think it's a great opportunity for the Hong Kong National squad members to get some decent game time against the Bangladesh A touring side and for the rest of us, an awesome opportunity to make a little extra cash thanks to the Pakistan Counsel 20/20 competition.

With these changes incorporated we can now give you the remaining calendar for this season.

Saturday League Finals

Congratulations to those teams that have finished in the Top 8 positions and will now contest the finals. As this is the first year that the finals system has been used in Hong Kong, hopefully the following explanation will give everyone a clear understanding:

The top eight positions qualify for the finals with the finalists split into two groups for the opening week of the Finals Series. The top four teams play the two Qualifying Finals. The winners get a bye through to Week Three of the tournament, while the Losers get home games in Week Two. The bottom four teams play the two Elimination Finals, where the winners advance to Week Two games and the losers' are eliminated.

Week one

1st Qualifying Final: 1st seed hosts 4th seed
2nd Qualifying Final: 2nd seed hosts 3rd seed
1st Elimination Final: 5th seed hosts 8th seed
2nd Elimination Final: 6th seed hosts 7th seed

Week two

1st Semifinal: Loser of 1st QF hosts winner of 1st EF
2nd Semifinal: Loser of 2nd QF hosts winner of 2nd EF

Week three - Starting with this week, all matches are knockout rounds

Due to the restriction with ground availability, where grounds are marked as TBA they will be announced once results from the previous weekend are confirmed. In some cases ground availability will impact home ground advantage to the higher ranked team.

Saturday Cup Fixtures

The Saturday Cup will be held once again this year in the 20/20 format. It will be a 16 side competition with the teams being seeded from the positions they finished in the regular league season (1vs 9, 2 vs10 etc).

This means the teams finishing 15th through to 18th will need to play in a qualifier round to see who goes through to the Cup competition.
