An audio clip of the West Indies captain Brian Lara announcing his retirement from all international cricket after Saturday's ODI against England at Kensington Oval, Barbados, is now available for free download from the ICC CWC Media Information Service (MIS), www.icc-cricket.com/mis.
Lara says that following careful consideration he feels the time is right to stand aside and give younger players a chance. He also feels proud of what he has accomplished in his long and successful West Indies career.
Also available for audio download from the MIS, man of the match Ramnaresh Sarwan talks about his desire to take over the captaincy from Lara and says there will be plenty of motivation among the players to win Saturday's game for their captain.
There is also an audio clip of Bangladesh captain Habibul Bashar who discusses his future and that of coach Dav Whatmore following his team's final game in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2007.
Post-match audio from key players from the majority of matches at this tournament is available to download free of charge from the MIS.
Access to the site is password protected and those media requiring a password can obtain one from Robin Abrahams at robin.abrahams@wisdengroup.com
The MIS also includes post-match written quotes from all matches and, together with the tournament's official website, www.cricketworldcup.com the two sites form a comprehensive online resource for media and the public to get all the latest news and views from this ninth ICC Cricket World Cup.
