Veteran batsman Peter Bowler showed that he is still a force to be reckoned with as the second day of Somerset's three day friendly against Glamorgan finished with the honours just about even.
Resuming on their overnight total of 107 for 2, the Cidermen lost their new signing James Bryant L.B.W. in the third over of the day for 35 having added three to his overnight score.
With the arrival of new batsman Keith Parsons, Bowler who was enjoying his return to the top of the order, started to move the score along more quickly and the pair added 93 before Parsons was out for 58 runs.
Bowler, who will celebrate his fortieth birthday in the summer remained at the wicket until he was out for 131, and the score had moved onto 264 for 7.
A flurry of late runs from Keith Dutch, who made 65, Richard Johnson who hit a rapid fire 31 from 26 balls, and an unbeaten ninth wicket stand of 75 from Steffan Jones who hit 5x6's and 5x4's in his 60 not out, enabled Somerset to declare at teatime on 422 for 8.
By close of play Glamorgan had moved on to 172 for 3,with David Hemp unbeaten on 58, to ensure the prospect of an interesting final days play at the County Ground on Friday.
