The Indian coach Kapil Dev said in an interview on Sunday that he was not against the inclusion of former skipper Md Azharuddin or any other player in the team and would continue to do his best for the country. He also added that "it's not a question of any individual, ultimately the country is most important. We are ready to do what is best for the team. It was important for the selectors and the team management to agree on team selection, rather than to prevail on the views of others".
Kapil Dev categorically dismissed reports that he was "ganging up" with captain Sachin Tandulkar against the BCCI in the selection process and said "when they made me the coach, they said how will top men like you and Tendulkar work together. Now they are saying this while we are working together.''
