Three new teams will join the league in 2005, bringing the total number of teams to 18. For the first time, a team from Rishon Le Zion will play in the domestic league, whilst as a further boost to the development programme, two predominantly junior teams will also be making their debuts. The highly successful Negev Academy will expand to two teams, with the concept being copied in the north where Ra'anana will add a second side to give their junior players opportunities to test and improve their skills in the adult league. Sadly Petah Tikva will not be competing in the league this season.
The 2005 season will be highlighted by the Maccabi Games, where both open and U18 tournaments will be held for the first time. The games will be played from July 10 - 20. The Israel U19 team will also be competing in the European Championships in Scotland in August.
