ICC announces promotions for Jon Long & Brian Murgatroyd

Jon Long and Brian Murgatroyd have both been promoted to new roles within the ICC, it was announced today.

Mr Long, previously the organisation's Corporate Communications Manager, will become Manager - Member Services and Corporate Affairs while Mr Murgatroyd, who has filled the role of Media Manager, becomes Manager - Media and Communication.

The two men will head up their respective departments, which will deal with media relations and external communications as well as how best to serve the ICC's 96 Members.

Mr Murgatroyd will be the first point of contact for the media pending the appointment of a Media Manager to fill the position he has vacated.

The scope for the re-structuring and promotions came about with the departure of Brendan McClements, the General Manager - Corporate Affairs, last month and ICC Chief Executive Malcolm Speed said he was delighted to make the appointments.

"We went through a lengthy process that involved more than 130 candidates before deciding to promote from within," said Mr Speed.

"With the addition of a new area dedicated to member services it was decided the role, when allied to the Corporate Affairs function, was too big for one person so we decided on the creation of the two positions, each with their own departments.

"Jon and Brian were the outstanding applicants and the skill-sets they possess mean we will be well-served as we look to ensure we continue to serve our Members and promote the role of the ICC as the game's world governing body."
