Indian players will not be allowed to travel with their wives to next month's World Cup in South Africa, the Indian cricket board said today.
However, the wives would be allowed to join the players if India makes it to the super-six league in the 14-nation tournament starting February 29.
The decision was made at a meeting of the Board of Control for Cricket in India, Jagmohan Dalmiya, the board's president, told reporters.
The Indian team will hold two practice sessions a day for 12 days after it arrives in South Africa on January 29. Some two dozen net bowlers from South Africa have been chosen to help the team.
The Indian side will also play two warm-up matches with domestic teams in Durban on February 4 and 6.
