Invitation to tender for 2003 World Cup

The 2003 Cricket World Cup is to be held in Southern Africa during February and March 2003

The 2003 Cricket World Cup is to be held in Southern Africa during February and March 2003. The tournament comprises 14 teams competing in 54 matches, of which approximately 48 will be staged at approximately 12 grounds around South Africa.
The United Cricket Board of South Africa (¡§the UCB¡¨) invites applicants to tender in respect of the following categories of Cricket World Cup 2003:
,,h media accreditation; ,,h hospitality; ,,h hotel group; ,,h travel agency; ,,h international tour operator; ,,h publications (other than electronic publishing); ,,h security of players, officials and VIP¡¦s; ,,h car rental; ,,h wine supplier.
1 Pre-qualification standards
Applicants must have:
1.1 meaningful experience in their field; and
1.2 empowerment initiatives.
2 Submission of interest
Submissions in response to this advertisement should be submitted to the Director of the 2003 Cricket World Cup by no later than 16h00 on Friday 1 September 2000 and should include the following information:
2.1 the category in which the applicant is applying
2.2 full contact details (physical address, postal address, telephone number/s, facsimile number/s, e-mail address) of the applicant as well as the contact details of a representative of the applicant in connection with this submission;
2.3 an executive summary, providing a brief description of the history and structure of the applicant;
2.4 details of relevant experience, including:
2.4.1 experience in South African sport in general and South African cricket in particular;
2.4.2 details of representation throughout South Africa; and
2.4.3 international involvement and experience;
2.5 the applicant¡¦s empowerment profile.
This advertisement forms the first phase of the UCB¡¦s selection process. Following receipt of submissions from applicants in response to this advertisement, the UCB shall send out Requests for Proposals to shortlisted applicants by no later than Wednesday 1 November 2000, who will then be required to submit proposals by no later than 16h00 on Friday 19 January 2001. Final interviews will take place during February 2001. It is the intention of the UCB to announce successful applicants in the respective categories by no later than Wednesday 28 February 2001.

3 Applicants are advised that the selection of successful applicants is at the sole discretion of the Cricket World Cup 2003 Policy Committee and no correspondence whatsoever shall be entered into in this regard.
